do i need to fix clutch spring

ok well i just got my truck yesturday, its a 4wd truck (volcano stx) and im trying to break it in and i cant seem to get the idle right. most of the time when it idles it will idle for a little then turn off then some times (once so far) it will just go in gear while idleing but everytime i do get it to idle it will spit out little sprinkles of gas out of the muffler. i also cant get the finetuning to be perfect, oh yay when i idle and i brake it turns off so whats wrong?

will it start with the wheels on the ground? if so its not broke.
and does it bog real bad?

you need to raise the idle and trim the throttle back a little

take engine out take, take bell off and if its broke like mine was it will fall out.
if broke on the end make another loop and hook it back together. good luck

if your clutch spring is broke the wheels will spin when you pull the pullstart

RE: do i need to fix clutch spring

I just got a Volcano Sv the other day, when i got it started it just wanted to take of, i adjusted the idle down and everthing but the wheels kept moving. After reading most of the posts about a broken clutch spring i took the engine out to check and it wasnt broken. it had some stretch marks in though. So i went to the hobby store and got the traxxis replacment spring and put it on now it works fine.

Hi guys... I'm new to RC... just got my first one, the Himoto Syclone with the VX-18 engine. Sounds like my clutch spring may be broken?? The first few tanks idle'd fine, but now during idle the wheels spin.

Before I attempt to take the engine apart, does anyone have any pics/instructions on what a clutch spring is, where it is located, etc.

Thanks,
Martyn.

well i finally got the spring today its black and pretty sure its bigger but fits perfect and seems everything working good just need to get the finetuning to be perfect (almost there) and break the s.o.b. in, lol almost had it today then i ran out of gas and didn't realize it till it was too late i already had called it a day

good, there's nothing like a properly broken in and tuned engine.

RE: do i need to fix clutch spring

ERRRR now my only problem is that it wont stop stalling spitting gas out of the muffler

RE: do i need to fix clutch spring

raise the idle a little, its good to run it rich during break in, if your done or have ran a couple of tanks you can lean it an 1/8 turn to help run it better.
