Tremor Roto Start

1 Attachment(s)
This is a 1/16th scale roto start that I designed and machined in my machine shop. Opinions, in put, design changes, ideas would be great thanks.

Looks good wade... I am in considering there isn't a pullstart available lol..

RE: Tremor Roto Start

That's kind of why I designed it, my son has been nagging me about wanting to drive his truck but there isn't any pullstarts available. If it works out good they will go into production on the CNC machines some time next month I hope. I'll keep you posted.

whats wrong with the rotostart i sent u wade?

RE: Tremor Roto Start

uh, nothing, that went on his volcano, this is on a Tremor 1/16th scale truck he has that the pull start finaly broke on. Conventional roto starts won't work on a 1/16th scale engine.

RE: Tremor Roto Start

Thanks. I probably could have spent more time oil sanding and polishing the machine marks out, but my son was getting impatient, lol.
Used it this weekend and monday, but I'm giving it month to make sure the heat seated brass bushing doesn't work out of the aluminum or that the stainless steel roto shaft doesn't wear out too much. If it works out good and no problems I'm going to put it into production on the CNC machines in about a month or less.

get moving.. dont wait around lol..

RE: Tremor Roto Start

uh ya and start making them now and have the heat pressed bushings pop out on every body would be bad, lol.

Get rid of those flat head screws... Use hex or something.

LOL, ya I don't realy like the flat heads but I had them laying around and they fit so I used them, lol. Gonna use chrome hex screws on the actual production models.

RE: Tremor Roto Start

No there made out of 6061 T6 Aircraft aluminum on my lathe michael.

Ya blue I do have an update. We had to go back to the drawing board to make a change to the area where the screws go through, it was too long and it made the thin screws buckle and break under the torque of the roto starter. So I had to go back and mill them down so the screw tabs were thinner, making the screws shorter and not so long and flexible. Other than that small change it has been working awsome, I can start the car with easy no pulling and pulling and pulling. Also we will be making one for the smaller back plates ont eh new engines. Hopefully I will get a chance to design some for the picos and some of the other brands of micro engines. Anyway, looking at another month of testing, taking alittle longer than I had antisipated.

cool.. but not needed for me.. Starts on the first pull every time (once primed).... plus I like having a way to start it on the fly with no machines (bump start, Roto start).. I like the pull start :-)

Just a silly comment, but,
You obviously have skills with machine tools, sooooo..... I have to ask ..... (Design Change) :-)

Add a one-way-bearing, and a spring loaded recoil pull start spring into the roto start. [X(] hehehehehe
....... the best of both worlds. :D

The case may have to be slightly larger (deeper), but find some screws that dont bend (not flat heads) lol, ... just kidding...
Hrmmm, use a stock pull start back plate at the BACK of your current roto-start, drill a hole in the middle to pass your shaft. Haha that sounds funny.

I'm just trowing out rediculous ideas :-)

(See the Hypothetical picture that I have attached....)
later

I was trying to find parts based off the info redcat gives...

Tremor ATV; 1/16 ATV, .07 SH engine.

uh, thats not an SH engine... but they advertise it. Do they have any parts for that engine?
