Tight diffs?
Im in the process of tearing down my Cane and loctite-ing it all up, and I noticed the diffs arent really smooth when turned by hand. Is this normal when they are new? Seems to be notchy, especially the front and rear diffs, not so much in the center diff.

mine are very easy and mesh nicely, ask in the 1/8 thread and see what they say about theirs.

when they are new I have had the same problem. If your that concerned tear them apart and change out the chinese grease lol...

That stringy icky stuff thats on the ring and pinion is in the diff too? Ok that explains it.

I just figured out the diff locking feature, with tte set screw... too cool!:D

the hurricanes are decent buggies. One of the best handling nitro's on my track. My quake smokes them off the line but they out handle me flyin through the air lol... great jumping nitro's.

There is a grub screw on the diff barrel that if tightented completely locks a one spider gear. hence locking the diff.

You don't want to do that, yoru going to cause your self some trouble in the long run if one those axles bends and locks up that side yoru going to blow your whole drive train, seen it happen on a buddies GS Storm(same buggy as Hurricane), bent an axle locked up the wheel and transfered the power through the whole rear end and blew the diff and snapped the opposite side drive axle, twisted the rear center axle, stripped the spur gear, blew the center diff and broke the clutch bell. It's cool but it's not worth it.

If I were to use it, I would only ever lock the center diff. Thanks for the heads up.

ya, alot less to mess up, but to be honnest the center diff on the hurricane distributes the power prety good, I get decent power distribution to both front and rear evenly for the most part.
