You know me Eddie can't spell. Lmao. Are you talking to me? With the ? about racing. If so, no I am not just going to beat the sh-t out of it. I just keep shopping around for a new ride. I know I want to go 1/8 with a 2 speed tranny. This looks awesome,[link]http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=43532[/link] but also alot of money. I could afford one if I could stay off the golf courses. LOL

Any input on a new ride, please feel free to express.

hey bro, i was talking to you, if you like the mammoth, just get it, i heard alot of crap about the mutilator but i got it and i love it. People have unfavorable opinions about everything and some more than others about evreything. My motto is if you like it get it, who cares what people have to say about it.

go to globalhobby.com for XTM related stuff, they have their own forum. This redcat has me thinking, do I want a cheap thing that is gonna break, or just buy a 2wd truck?

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

redcat in general is a very reliable product I mean I beat the crap out of my tornados and at most when i broke something I caould get if fixed for unde 10 buck know all rcs will break LOL but alot of it depnds on your driving styles.

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

At first I got introduced to these because I need driving experience, but then I figured they werent durable at all and the reason the parts are and eighth of the price of my mammy parts. But now, I want something to actually enjoy, like taking to a new track and using jsut to get the feel of the track. Or maybe getting some other people to get 1/10ths and make a new class at my track. Has anyone ever taken theirs to a track or anything like that? Oh yea.. post some vids [8D]

thanks,
Will

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

Thanks Eddie, you are absolutely right about that. I guess it is all about preferences. From Redcat, traxxas,Hpi and losi. They are all made to break. Or they wouldn't be in the business.

see you on the flip side. Fong[8D]

Yeah, Redcat and Himoto are the same. They use all of the same parts and everything, I say go where it is the cheapest to buy. Best of luck to ya!

not all of them are...himoto has some totally diff breed...if you wanting to hit the track go with a 1/8th..the price of the buggy/truggy and the parts price isnt to far off the 1/10th and you will prolly get a much more durable rc....but if ya do go with the 1/10th get the single spd...or 3 diff.....dont think you will like 2spd on a track..and if u diff wanna go track racing the rxb-1 and the rxt-1 himotos are ready to rock...I have 2 hurricanes and like them alot but if you wanna race on a ROAR rule track you will need to replace the cane's engine or buy a rtm and put a .21 on it

From what I've seen/heard about he megap series from himoto, you can't go wrong. I'm gonna get the megap 2 speed truck sometime this month or next.

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

be careful guys i mentioned my himoto mega p and i got posts deleted because i was talking about himoto in here. they didn't like me talking about anything other than redcat. but in my opinion the himoto is the way to go. my mega p is one hell of a truck.

Lordmik 04-02-2008 10:33 AM

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

I'll take the chance and ask about your mega p. lol I'm gonna get the truck, not the truggy, just for it's sheer size. Which do you have? IF the truck, then does that .18 pull pretty good with the 2 speed?

jmen0619 04-02-2008 11:00 AM

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

i was also deleted before about himoto...BUT this is a honest answer and being owner of both brands.(redcat tornado bb , and himoto megap mtrs2)

BUT THE QUESTION ASK WHICH ONE? if we get deleted because of an honest answer....... i think people should do the right things in life!

also the prices are very low, and i like the special of the month !!!!!

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

they shouldnt delete posts cause this is a community of RCers. But this is a paid forum so i can understand why. Just afraid of a little competition. But if you think about it they are all made by HSP so in a way it is keeping them in buisness talking about all the HSP brands.

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

I'm going to put this discussion to rest. This forum is the Redcat Support Forum. It is here for Redcat Racing to support their customers and products. Just like any other discussion forum the posted threads need to be on the topic of the forum, which is Redcat. But being a support forum there are also several other guidelines that restrict talking about other brands of vehicles. The reason this thread in particular is allowed is because it's original question is comparing a Redcat and Himoto vehicle. The rules of RCU are very clear about keeping threads on topic. Just like airplane threads aren't allowed in the car forums and cars aren't discussed in the boat forums we don't allow postings of other brands in a support forum.

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

i have the mega p mxt-2s 1/8 and i think it is great. i have compared it to the redcat models and i found it to have a little better setup. like the sealed battery and receiver box. it also comes with anti sway bars, a big help in my opinion, it helps to keep it on it's wheels a little better than most. the engine in mine is the same one rdcat uses in some of their upgraded models, the team infinity .18 i'm not done with the break in yet but this .18 seems to have plenty of power all around. alot more than my vx 18 in my volcano. but remember this is a new truck and it will have a couple small things here and there that will need to be tweaked and adjusted for the good balance we all want. but this thing is definitely one mean truck. good ground clearance and very well built.

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

Hi Jayson, actually the engine that you have in the mxt 2s is different, it has a slide carb and 2 tuning needles, the one your talking about is single needle, rotary carb. ;)

Lordmik 04-02-2008 03:39 PM

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

The VX-18 in my used to be tornado/syclone but now volcano/eldorada has two needles.

RE: Redcat or Himoto?

Regardless of what type of car you buy, it can be broken. Aluminum bends and plastic either bends or snaps, no way around it. I bought a Redcat Hurricane XP 1/8th scale buggy for $260 w/shipping, and I have compared its construction to my Losi Megabaja and the construction is similar in where plastic and metal parts are used and applied. In fact my Hurricane XP uses more aluminum parts than the Megabaja does, for which I paid almost $450. Also my Hurricane XP runs faster and accelerates quicker than my Megabaja, and guess what I have broken both of them too!!! LOL YAR HAR HAR!!! I even took my Hurricane XP down to my LHS and let the owner I know drive it and he was saying HOLYFREAKINGDOGCRAPBATMAN, this car is really good for the money you paid!! Also remember just about everything we buy in the US is made in China, and I don't doubt many of the parts for my Losi Megabaja are made in China too!! So if you want, save your money and get a 1/8th scale buggy with a bigger engine and heavier parts and go hit the track. Just because the cars are cheap doesn't mean they are of poor quality and if you break something its cheaper to repair!!!:D
