Electric start problems
 

I've just broke my first pull start and replaced it with the electric start back plate.

I don't have the rechargable starter, but tried using a drill on reverse to no effect.

In my part of england, there's not many dealers to explain my stupidity to, so I was wondering should I buy the starter, or is there something else that I should consider?

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

Glow ignitor charged, getting fuel, glow plug burnt out.

How fast is the engine turning over? Backplates designed for electric starters are geared down, because electric starters are (relatively) high-speed low-torque devices. Power drills OTOH are low-speed, high-torque devices.

Single-speed cordless drills are typically 0-1000rpm, and 2-speed types are usually 0-2000 (in high speed mode). I can sometimes start my engine with a 2-speed cordless, but have much better luck with a mains drill at 3000rpm.

hi 123 michael - i live in Oswaldtwistle, but have realy struggled finding dealers.
all of my local stores have closed (one in oswaldtwistle, one in accrington, and two in blackburn)
Are there any on your side on Lancashire?

The car is the bog standard truck. depending on which manufacturer, is known as tornado/tyrannosaurus/infinitive - but all basically same model.

I've replaced some of the easily breakable kit with alloy, but aside from that, nothing to improve performance as yet. I've only actually had it running about half a dozen times. I used to dabble with on road electric, but got bored with that.

Where do you race?

I bought an electric starter to engage my roto start, but the battery is fully charged just now, and the neighbours might get upset if I try setting it going now at half eleven.
I'll have a go tomorow and let you know if it works

FYI you can use most drills but they need to be quite powefull to spin it fast enough.

lol,good man i get all my parts off ebay but i never need eny parts enymore if you have instruction manual just type the part number in on ebay serch and the part will apear,there are no model shps eny way that sell redcat parts are there?i have tyrannosaurus its mint fast but i jut call it volcano stx as it is exactely the same,so.oh how the wether over there is nasty here.it never stops raining and its ment to be hottest part of the year.this weather is doing my head in asi cant go on my nitro car now ,oh.....[:o]

could rain make your manifold go all rufe and bumpy or is it when it gets realley warm
