Redcat Brushless Volcano
Is [link=http://www.********.co.uk/NBC-E.htm]this[/link] the same as the volcano but in a BL form? Looks like it to me. Looks nice if you ask me.

RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
wrong tires to be a volcano and way cheaper looking rx and tx

RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
The pic shows 2 different tires. The first that is showed is the Volcano SV tires. The second one is the Volcano EPX tires.

RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
you go me there I dont mess with electric so im not sure what the epx looks like but it does share a lot of the volcano sv characteristics.Which one did you end up getting?
|
RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
I would get that one but it's in Europe and I don't think they ship to the USA.

RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano

RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
I've got one of those arriving on Friday. It is the Volcano EPX (with a cheap radio system - I'll put in my own). I uses the Novatech 75A brushless ESC and 3300KV motor sold be Redcat. I'll be running it off 9.6V.

RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
I understand it's not good to bring up old threads, but I couldn't find any where else that has a thread for Volcano EPX. [&o]
I had installed the brushless motor & ESC, running on 7 Cells GP3900. It's great to have the truck wheelie on dry asphalt from a stand still with 17t pinion :D But after several whelies, the center aluminum long drive shaft broke at the joint between ball head and rod. [:@] Exessive wear also was noticed where the pin was holding to the rod. I installed a new shaft (stock). Geared it up to 19t pinion. Motor got hotter (still can be touched). After 15 min run (not rough bash), I found the same wear around pin and alum. rod. fact is the alum shaft can't take the torque. I need your help: 1. Is there aftermarket center shaft that fits? where to get it? 2. what other tires/wheels can I install on the volcano EPX? 3. is the hex hub considered a 14mm size? (BTW, how to measure hex hub side?) 4. is there any aftermarket 64t spur that fits? Other problems i had: 1. stock servo will twitch under heavy acceleration. 2. stock hex hub was 'ground hollow' by wheel pin. 3. stock spur showing signs of exessive wear around pin area. |
RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
1. there is no upgrade one as of yet 2. pretty much any tire and rim with a 12mm hex 3. 12mm 4. not that i know of but i think there will be options offered shortly |
RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
Thanks a lot ehroof.
The world just got better with helpful forums. I tried a remedy on the center drive shaft. Drilled a 1.5mm hole perpendicular to the original pin hole and about 2 mm away from it (as far as I could go). Then inserted a home made 1.5mm shaft and secured it. I did this on both ends, so now each end of my center drive shaft is locked with 2 pins. A test run was done, about 30 mins, mostly top speed runs with sudden brakes and wheelies and violent spins and 'brakies' and some small jumps. So far so good. I sure hope it will hold for a long time. It's just ashame it didn't come with a slipper clutch. Oh yes, I must admit. I am NOT having a Redcat Volcano EPX. There's simply no Redcats in our local market. However my model is HSP (High Speed) Brontosaurus, I think they are the same. |
RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
great fix, glad it worked out, clermontmotorsports.com ships world wide so you can become a member of the redcat family!!!!!!

RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
ehroof,
Out of topic for just a sec: I'm not sure about this but my residential country seems to have a bad reputation. Many don't ship their products here, Malaysia (that tiny dot in Asia). I wonder, once we had paid online with Paypal or credit cards, the seller must have received the money. So what's the hold up? |
RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
i am not sure what you mean, did you pay someone? I would check with the business or company before you pay them to make sure they ship to you before you pay.
|
RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
Nope. I haven't make any payments just yet. ;)
I was researching in lots of sites like towerhobbies and a main hobbies etc, and non of them would accept orders from my country. [:@] I tried email them and the replies were that I must be an 'established customer', otherwise they won't sell to me. That makes me wonder what's the problem we are having. Bad postal service? [&:] (sigh) Hobby grade products here are way overpriced. LHS are not well stocked. If I could, I rather get parts online. |
RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
drop clermontmotorsports.com an email and see, i am sure he can ship to you, he just started shipping world wide.

RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
I think its the AMAX version of the volcano Electric.
A Buddy of mine has the AMAX version of the Volcano (nitro model though) and it is nearly Identical to Redcats Volcano, except for Tires n Cheaper RX and servos. It also came with the SH engine (but no engine Replacement plan like Redcats). |
RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
To ehroof and all the experienced out there:
I took your advice and did the fuel tube trick in drive cups to prevent dogbones from binding. It worked.;) ...untill today, I was driving on short flat grass, took a corner, the car lost control and spun, no crash. and I bent a front left dogbone at the wheel drive cup end. I was lucky it didn't break because the bent was about 45 degree. wow. Then I made a thicker fuel tube to push out the dogbone a lil more from the cup hopefully it will work. I was puzzled / frustrated, could it be the lower arms are flexing too much that caused the dogbone issues? [&:], i'm constantly bending them. BTW it's our holiday here untill Sunday, got a whole lot of time to bash. :D LOL. I'll try make some video, now if i just had a cameraman... |
RE: Redcat Brushless Volcano
put some fuel tube on the shocks so they dont bottom out, on the shaft, maybe its compressing too much
