Tornado BB pullstart and throttle

I just got my Tornado BB. I notice that the metal arm attached to the throttle servo pushes up against the pullstart when I try pull on the tx trigger. the pull start gets in the way of the metal arm when I brake or add throttle. See the attached photo. anyone else have this problem?

It's ok, they all come like that. shouldn't be a problem.

That's deffinatlly one way to go about it.

Is redcat gonna fix this design flaw? I mean there was a time when the pullstart got trapped between the servo arm and the throttle didn't close complete so that can cause some problems. Anyway I fixed it with a paper clip.... here is a photo.

before I got the tiger drive I used tie wire and went around the head and over to the spoiler(wing) support and back around the head again wi the wire. This way I had a continous wire from the head to the wing mount and left the pull starter on the oppisite side of the wire from the linkage. Thats worked too.

I fixed this problem by removing the pull starter, rotating it 90 degrees, and reinstalling it. The screw pattern is symmetrical, so it will work. I had to trim the opening around the engine a bit larger so the pull handle would fit. No more interference problems with the throttle linkage!

I also put in a rotostart now. Never going back to pull start again. the car fires up in a few secs as opposed to a few minutes of me yanking.

mine does interfere a little bit. I am thinking about getting myself one of those roto starters.

u have got to use a cordless drill with the tigerdrive because they don't seem to have there own electric starter?? and the throttle servo arm hits the rear body post causing run aways so just bend it (learn t that the hard way lol)

ok i see there starter

go to home depot or Walmart and buy a cheap cordless drill. Then you can start up your car AND do work around the house:)

LOL would a 12v do the trick?

I use a 19.2v kawasaki cordless drill, with mine it has low and high speed so I use the high speed for starting my Tsunami.

ha im tempted to get a roto start after reading this. i was looking at the tiger drive in my lhs but i couldnt afford it :( so i just bought another pullstart to replace the SNAPPED one. oh well

RE: Tornado BB pullstart and throttle

I got a rotostart kit from a dealer here and it was only $30. comes with the backplate and wand. my pullstart snapped a couple times too. So that was the last straw.

RE: Tornado BB pullstart and throttle

lol. what would be better?
7.2v battery drill, like the one that comes with the set,?
or cordless drill to start them up with the drill bit in?

k3nv 01-24-2008 11:26 AM

RE: Tornado BB pullstart and throttle

I prefer the 7.2 wand since it's smaller than my drill. I guess if you don't mind lugging around a drill. the wand works just fine for me.

RE: Tornado BB pullstart and throttle

lol. i cba lugging a big drill round in my bag, and i have a few 7.2 cells from my tamiya baja champ, so wand it probably is. :) thanks.

RE: Tornado BB pullstart and throttle

I notice that I have to put my throttle trim all the way back so the car will slow down it is like the trottle does not want to go back unless I adjust the trim. My pull start just broke and I ordered a rotostart setup. Will this take care of this problem as I am getting rid of the pull start and it will no longer get in the way of the throttle arm.

guys some drills dont start RC's they dont have enough speed the mostly just have torque
