RE: Volcano SV Settings
Hey Kuppler. Remember earlier today when we were messin with our engines (at WORK lol) and you noticed that my engine (brand new) had a LOT more compression than yours did?.... Well....I found this post in the Forum Troubleshooting section that said the following...
Got pinch? Before we start troubleshooting, let's first make sure the piston and sleeve aren't toast. Remove the engine's glow plug, and rotate the flywheel with your finger. As the piston reaches top dead center, you should at least feel resistance as the piston is “pinched” by the sleeve. This tight fit seals the combustion chamber and is critical to engine performance. If you don't feel any pinch, you probably need to replace your piston and sleeve. Your engine had almost ZERO pinch. Mebbe its TOAST? |
RE: Volcano SV Settings
lol.. maybe.. i guess ill have to look at that tomor at work.. lol.....

RE: Volcano SV Settings
Right now the way the weather is changing here in California (temp in the 30's) you and your truck are not used to that cold...................it takes 4 or 5 long runs just to get the heat up to normal in your truck and if you putt around it will get to cool to run well. Don't know if thats your problem but I've had about 5 customers in here thinking there engine was bad and its just to cold[&:]

RE: Volcano SV Settings
as far as the truck moving is this when you are idling on blocks or are the tires on the ground? i had the same problem with my sv pro when i had it on the block and it was at idle it would still move the wheels no matter how far down i turned the idle screw (it would kill the engine) before the wheels would stop moving. as soon as i put the truck on the ground it would just sit there and idle. just thought it would help if i shared my experience on this matter

RE: Volcano SV Settings
Rapid temp changes can cause problems and some simple things can fix these problems like glow plugs. Just by changing the plug to another type of temperature rated plugs can help, such as a hot plug!

I can not idle my Volcano SV no matter what. I am a noob needing a lot of help, anyone?
Thanks in advance.;) |
RE: Volcano SV Settings
Maybe you guys need to adjust the throttle trim a bit.

ORIGINAL: webbl19 Maybe you guys need to adjust the throttle trim a bit. You responded to a 3 month old question....Heh...heh.. |
RE: Volcano SV Settings
And how would I do this?
|
RE: Volcano SV Settings
oh well someone brought it back...lol
the throttle trim are the little knobs on the transmitter (controller) turn it until it idles down a little bit. if it doesnt idle down you need to adjust your linkage a bit. |
RE: Volcano SV Settings
Even when i put it down all the way it still goes crazy, like full throttle. My Idle setting screw was all the way out from factory, need any mods?
|
RE: Volcano SV Settings
are your batteries good? it should not be going full throttle unless you are pulling the trigger.
|
RE: Volcano SV Settings
Fully charged right before putting them on and even if I turn off the receiver it is still going full throttle.
|
RE: Volcano SV Settings
your probably running to lean on the low needle., i just posted the needles and settings in your other thread

RE: Volcano SV Settings

RE: Volcano SV Settings
i had the similiar problem when i got mine ... first couple of runs when i was breaking it in ... it just wanted to take off! nothing full throttle like otherwise im sure that would have fried my engine. But i just turned my idle screw a turn counter-clockwise at a time. Turning it off then adjusting and then firing it up to see if it helped any .... repeating that pattern. That worked for me well. Also i had the problem that my breaks wouldnt work it seemed and my truck wouldnt stop and that was caused from the metal bar that connects to the acceleration and brake servo .... the metal bar couldnt move back because it was pushed in between the battery box.... so i lifted that bar up and tightened it up by the allen screw by the handle. Worked great after that.
Anyhow anyone that is still reading this long post .... i have a question .... how long to brake pads last cause it seems after that muddy slushy day my brakes arent working very good. Maybe they were just a little muddy but ??? How often does the average guy change his brakes? |
