Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
I just installed the redcat brushless that was in my volcano and put it in the pede. I know this sounds like a stupid question: The throttle on the transmitter has to be reversed in order to go foward (if not it goes in reverse). The Steering servo is fine. I tried a different radio system and the same thing happens. It goes faster than reverse than foward. It almost is like the esc is reverse programmed but this esc cannot be reversed. Any ideas?

i dont know, i have 2 and they work fine, one it a tornado and another in a tsunami. I dont think it would make a difference what car it was in, something doesnt sound right.

Yeah, it's almost as if it was wired wrong. red wire to red wire/black wire to black wire/blue wire to yellow wire. It could be that the pede is rear wheel drive so the rear tires have less weight on them and it just appears to have more torque.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
maybe the motor is mounted on the opposite side of the car so its different than the redcats.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
Ehroof, you're right. I just spun the spur gear on the redcat and it goes in reverse. How would I reverse the motor rotation?

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
reverse the wires on the motor, i just dont know which ones and i dont want to suggest which ones.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
If anyone knows which wires or how to reverse the direction of the shaft, please tell me.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
Take pictures of how you have it all hooked up, that will help a lot for others to help you.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
go to the electric section of rcu and see what they say and still be weary of what people say, you dont want to blow the esc or motor.
|
RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
They said you CAN'T reverse a brushless motor because it has 3 wires.
|
RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
I'm pretty sure you all you have to do is switch any two wires and you should reverse the motor rotation.
|
RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
Yeah but I know it cannot be just any wires to switch.
|
RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
I just asked my dad (electrical engineer) and he said that the red wire and the black should be switched.
|
RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
Cant you just reverse the throttle on the remote> I know the tq remotes are reversable. so instead of reverse being forward you reverse the switch on the remote to make forward forward. You should not have to reverse wires. Then once you reverse the switch you can reset the esc for full throttle, full reverse adn brake.
|
RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
I don't think the esc is programmable.
|
RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
then look at the front of your tq remote and reverse the switch for the throttle.
|
RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
you cant reverse it, its setup to go slower in one direction then the other. they are setup for the rotation of the redcats spur gear. I was going to suggest the black and red wire but wouldnt do it either, lol.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
if you switch the red and black that will fix your problem all thr blue wire does is change the direction of the shaft do to imputs on the remote.

Pede I can tell you right now that the white yokes on the rear axles will snap right off and maybe even break the shafts. I had a 12t double turn modified epic motor running a 7cell and it would just twist the shafts. I was able to adapt a set of jato shafts to fit. The white yokes just wont hold up. Also the stock idle gear in the transmission will strip very easy. I had to install a steel idle gear. Once the idle gear and shafts were upgraded I also had to use robinson spur gears. The brushless in the stampede is sick but will wreak havoc on the driveline. My sons stampede topped out at 35mph on 8.4v and a wheelie bar was manditory. Its a good concept but be ready to do some major upgrades to drivetrain parts.

yeah, i would think in a 2wd it would lift the front end off the ground all the time, i have a 12 turn in my rustler and its lifting the front off the ground all the time, i mean this brushless is lifting the front end of my tsunami off the ground.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
Actually, you don't want a steel idler. Aluminum is best.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
I bought three of the brushless systems and installed one in my Tornado, same problem, first there is a hesitation before it takes of off at lest 1/2 second or more, then is goes quicker in reverse than forward, and still does not go that fast. Plus no manual with the esc, these are hooked into a REDCAT so I should not have the reverse problem, wired correctly. Any ideas on the hesitation and speed problems. If I can't get these fixed can I return them as two are unused and one has about 4 minutes run time on it. Plus I sold one esc to a customer and he would like a manual and a internet search proved fruitless.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
Are you still using the included motor/esc connectors?
|
RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
mine didnt come with a manual either but it works fine in the 2 cars i put them in, tornado epx and tsunami epx, foreward is crazy insane fast, there is a hesitation (braking) when going from foreward to reverse then the reverse kicks in and reverse is slower than foreward. I am not trying to say your wrong but you do have black to black, red to red and yellow to blue? By the way, i heard your from sheepshead bay, now its little odessa, i was born and raised on coyle st.
