where can i buy a bump box and can a tsunami be started with it?

Hey Eddie can you make a video of how the bump box works... i know it spins and all but how does the car/truck fit on it ???

sure, it just site on the box, the wheel on the box lines up with the flywheel on the engine (from the bottom), you push down on the car, the wheel spins, the engine turns over and starts. the pins on the front and rear bracket are moveable and you can set to a place that the car will line up with the wheel.

i ready to order but cant decide bump box or roto start ( weight or load is not an issue )

You can use a bump box if you still have your pull starter installed?

The only problem with bump boxes is having to drag around more equipment and if your RC dies, then you have to go get it and restart it. Jot to mention the batteries you need for them. I bought one many years ago and sold it within a week, because i didn't care for it. I personally prefer roto starters, you can carry them around and can use them on many different RC's. The batteries are not cumbersome!

i dont have a bump box but was thinking about geting one...
so u keep the bump box by your car right.. you start your rc.... drive it around... and IF.. only IF it dies.. yea you have to go get it... but have your Glow plug igniter with you... put it on and then use the pull start to get it going. you wont have to take the bump box with you.. i think that would work.....unless your RC dies because its out of Fuel[sm=punching.gif]

If you still plan on using the pull starter route, then why even get a bump starter? Why not just use a roto starter, then you don't have to worry about the pull starter?

idk i dont mind the pull start. i was saying i was looking into a bump box. but idk.... i might just keep it how it is... ill let you know...

the advantage of a bump box is no one way bearing :)

because he probably wants an electric start but a manual way also to start in case he forgets to charge the batteries

It's just more bulky stuff to carry around, plus you have to worry about the battery! It's not bad if you only carry out one RC anywhere, but most times i am bring 5+ Rc's, tools boxes and other things. I just use roto start backing plates on everything, so all i have to carry is one roto starter to use on everything. Some Bump boxes are not really designed to work with everything, many claim they do but can be a hassle. I tired mine out for a week and got rid of it. This is just my opinion, i am sure others will say they like them. I just would not get my moneys worth out of one, because i would never bring it anywhere.

Not trying to push anyone one way or the the other, but I just bought a bump box, the duratrax, and the battery, and the charger. The cost of the whole setup was about $80.00 with the 12 volt batt and the charger and the shipping. What I found was that the wheel would not engage the flywheel on either of my cars, a brand new Volcano and a new Tsunami. I pulled the wheel from the starter box and held it up to the bottom of each car in the flywheel slot, and the wheel hit both sides of the slot before it touched the flywheel. I had to use dremal tool to cut the flywheel slot wide enough in both cars to get the wheel to engage the flywheel. Next came setting up the pins to position the car on the box to start it. Even though both cars use the same chassie, the position of the motor in the chassie was different enough that I had to reset the pins to match each car to use it each time, (a real pain to do) so the only option left was to grind down the motor mounts on the Volcano to lower the flywheel and move it into position that matched the Tsunami.

Next I ordered the rotostart kit and an extra backing plate for the cars from RU Faster.com and the cost was less then $60.00 for the works, the gun and backplate are only 35.00. The rotostart is light, easy to use and starts the car on the first try every time. I wish I had not spent the money on the starter box, I guess I can sell it at the swapmeet this spring at the local track...

In my book the rotostart wins hands down.

The starter box can prop open my shop door till I sell it!!

Like i mentioned not all bump starters work for everything!
