Decision

I am goint to be buying a new R/C soon. I want to save money but would rather spend extra for more quality.
I am trying to decide between the folowing r/cs

+TRAXXAS RUSTLER VXL
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...ustler_vxl.jpg
i like this one because it looks easier that nitro and its wide and VERY fast

+REDCAT RACING TSUNAMI ULTRAWIDE
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...IULTRAWIDE.jpg
I like this one because it has a good engine, two speeds,is VERY wide, and has lots of aluminum
ATM this is my #1 choice

+REDCAT RACING AVALANCHE
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i.../avalanche.jpg
I like this one because its big, beefy and has tons of power and comes with good radio gear.

+REDCAT RACING MONSOON
http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...54/Monsoon.jpg
I like this one because its big and has a very powerful engine with a wide stance

I am looking to save money but spend the extra dime for quaility wich is why i am concidering the tsunami untrawide a little moth enan the 1/8 scales.
I want a wide ride to use for more seroious stuff and i will use my volcano to beat on
can some 1 please help me with this decision?

RE: Decision

Well for a 1/10 scale you cant beat the ultra wide but if you want durability go to a 1/8 scale. The avalanche adn monsoon are great. Out of all the trucks that I have ever had the avalanche is one of my favorites. The ultrawide does look sweet adn you can always upgrade teh engine and go to single speed. Its just too good looking to get all dirty and banged up.

im still a noob but i like the ultrawide and the avalanche i ordered the ultrawide should be here tuesday and the avalanche will be my next buy and in case you didnt know even though it says on redcats web page that the ultrawide comes with am radio they dont. they come with the fm system

RE: Decision

nitrozach, you can go to allaboutfunhobbies or clermontmotorsports.

I have a brushless stampede which is built on a VERY similar platform to the rustler vxl. I have an electric volcano which I would say if it had better suspension, I'd drive it just as much maybe more than the stampede. Now, in the case of the rustler VS Ultra wide.........ultra wide all the way. It will go through stuff that the rustler won't even dream of.

RE: Decision

is the radio gear on the ultra wide the same as one the volcano SV?

RE: Decision

Oh and if you're looking for handling.....forget the rustler (and this is coming from a TRX Fanboy:D)

No, that's the AM. The ultra wide has an FM

firebird78 02-17-2008 02:33 PM

RE: Decision

personally I'd go woth the monsoon or avalanche..1/8ths are tougher then 1/10's...only thing I can say about the rustler is I believe they are 2wd...would be somewhat harder to control then a 4wd...if u want it for a basher diff go with the 1/8

yes the ultrawide is fm and the valcanos are am now im not sure if the newer vacanos are being sold with the fm or not but i know that the ultrawide is being sold with the fm system its the same radio system as the avalanche...

monsoon or avalanche out of the two and from what i hear they are both great but i would go with the avalanche if your gona go 1/10th scale go with the ultrawide....

nitrozach54 02-17-2008 02:45 PM

RE: Decision

hows the clearence on the monsoon? i dont wana be getting stuck too much
is the clearence more that the volcano?

nitrozach54 02-17-2008 02:47 PM

RE: Decision

i have definatly ruled out the rustler by the way

rc rock 02-18-2008 12:33 AM

RE: Decision

i'd say that the monsoon would have about the same if not more ground clearence than the volcano.......

firebird78 02-18-2008 12:47 AM

RE: Decision

ground clearence should be higher...but longer wheelbase..my hurricane sets higher then a volcano..

vnmsgt 02-18-2008 10:10 AM

RE: Decision

Monsoon will not get stuck on anything at all. You can use the shock spacers if you want to and make it just as high as you want to like the avalanche and when you want to hit the track just remove them and tear it up on the track too. Best of both worlds:D

I emailed with Redcat today and their tech support confirmed thastthey come with AM radios, not FM.
Where are you getting your info from?

Do yourself a favor, buy the best radio you can and then buy your Nitro Truck. [link=http://www.xtm-dealer.com/AIRTRONICS.html]AIRTRONICS[/link] :D

RE: Decision

Nitrozach,

Dont worry if you didnt get the fm radio. Its an ok radio with crappy directions that no one can follow. I ended up getting a JRxr2 digital am for my sons avalanche and its sooo much better to work. I have the Fm one just sitting around.
