Hurricane upper arm / ball question

1 Attachment(s)
Ok, I had a high speed head on run in with my friends Revo and I took a bit of damage. (at least I tore his big 'ol tire off the rim... made me feel better)

-Ordering up the steering link/tie rod set (the end that attaches to the steering hub ball snapped)

-Sheered off the screw that goes from the upper arm to the steering hub (no biggie, a little screw removal job on the hub)

-Broke the upper arm ball ** here is the part I'm having a hard time with, the exploded view doesn't part number balls and screws. The [link=http://www.redcatracing.com/parts_searchresult.asp?basepartno=HURRICANE+PRO&q= 81207]Universal Joint Balls[/link] look like the right ones, but it says 3 pieces? I only see 2 of that type on my buggy, the left and right upper arm balls.**

- How in the heck do you remove and replace the balls in the first place?

Firebird you are a genius! LOL

You gave me the idea to take my drill press vice, a collar from my lathe, and drill a hole in a small piece of wood just greater than OD of the ball. Haha... homemade press!

Anyway, turns out there is a small tapered collar holding the ball in there (on the aluminum arms anyway, unsure on the plastic).

Should be easy "IF" those are the right balls.

Forgive the blur & overflash in the pic, was rushing as the battery was about to die on the camera.

Not me man... That impact today would have cost me an upper arm set IMO. If my aluminum breaks, then yeah, I'll probably replace it with plastic.

And no, lets not start a plastic vs. aluminum discussion. Just my opinion so far... ALWAYS subject to change of course, LOL.

I bet my LHS has the balls, they have a ton of little stock like that... have to check Tuesday, they are closed Mondays.
