RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

ok, I was looking at the engine diagram in my book and it is not the same as my motor. I will have to pull the piston off of my motor to get the shaft out, but according to the book, which matches the motor on dads hurricane, he can get the shaft out with out pulling the piston.

RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

Hate to say it but it would probably be better off and cheaper to exchange the motor with redcat!

RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

It says SH on one side, and 28C on the other. I took a pic and showed dad and he said it is the same as his Hurricane motor. So we will work on it tomorrow and see what we can do. Sorry for all the confusion. I am getting rather frustrated with it right now. Getting tired of never playing, and putting money into it. I will let everyone know if we get it fixed or not.

I think he does...ha ha ha...i never asked...lol...well, I need to hit the sack. 5am comes quick. I will keep you updated. Thanks for the help bro. Oh yeah....I will work on some video from dad, brother-in-law and me from this weekend with dads 2 cars. We had to put 2 of the Monsoon tires on dads Hurricane...he he he...actually worked out pretty good.

RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

It's actually cheaper to rebuild then the ERP. Mine was crank- about 30 bucks and clutchbell assy. about 25 bucks.. but, so far I have gathered that no matter what you replace, it will break again, SOON!!! So I hope you don't have high expectations for the fix you are going to attempt. Lets get more people to get Redcat and many others attention on this issue..

RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

well the problem ur discribing must be with the monsoon....I've ran the tar outta my cane and everything is still tight...but like clermont said..its prolly that brass washer..mine is silver

RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

No, the problem I am talking about is on my avalanche which is very similar to the monsoon as far as the clutch and drivetrain go..

Hey Dennis, Has Darin been alerted to the clutch issues?? I would think a different washer would be a simple thing to correct.

Correct me if I'm wrong, could the brass washer be wearing away allowing for slop in the clutchbell; then is just destroys itself??

Have you had any customers with similar issues?

I even pm'ed darin while he was on last night. I have told him and Nick. They are not put on right from the factory. I change all mine out at the store. Basically just need a real washer.

RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

Ok, I switched out cranks with dads old Hurricane motor. Everything looks good so far. I will try either tomorrow or the next do to get the rest back together. Unfortunately I am still going to need some other parts before I can start it up and run it. I will let you know how I make out.

I emailed the factory about this tonight to see what they say. If in fact just a better washer will resolve the problem, we will be sure to put out a section on the website that talks about fixes, options or whatever to help prevent any issues.

What all does part #83003 come with? It says clutchbelll + flywheel assembly. Does it come with shoes and springs too?

RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

thanks bro
as far as the clutch bell should I go with the regular replacement, or change to a different number of teeth?

need2drag 03-26-2008 05:48 PM

RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

is there a whole assembly I can get for the Monsoon?

Redcat Nick 03-26-2008 05:55 PM

RE: BIG TIME PROBLEM

I would go with the 12t bell on the monsoon. night and day difference

Didn't think to try that or even that you could mix and match! Thanks Redcat Nick!
