Sandstorm Engine Problems
 

Hey guys, i bought my sandstorm buggies a month after Christmas of last year. Straight out of the box, my dads buggy ran smooth - break-in, everything normal, but my buggy did not. The problem i encountered (and still encountering) is that the engine will rev high with out me pressing the gas, it makes a sputtering sound, and if i give it gas to actually drive it - it keeps going even though I'm pressing the breaks. I've leaned in and out on both screws but nothing works and I'm wondering if this problem is fixable or should I just forget the engine and buy another.

Sounds like it is too lean on the bottom end. Should be about 2 1/2 on the top. Then you want to have a crisp throttle response from a dead stop with out hesitation. If it still does it. You might have an air leak some where.

Is that 2 and 1/2 from all the way in on the top?

EDIT: I just did both screws 2 and 1/2 out and it idle fine - sounded nice too but when I out the glow plug it shut off, after that i started it again and give it some throttle after taking out the glow plug and it just rev'd high again.

Try a new glow plug and richen the low end about 3 hours

Yeah I'm think the same thing but the question is - where is that leek. I noticed a little fuel coming out of the cooling head- maybe thats it because I put in a new glow plug - haven't richened yet h though.

is ur cooling head tight? (remember to tighten it in a X pattern)...also check ur fuel lines and tank (were I normally start first, takes just a few seconds)

sounds like the idle screw is turned all the way in or the trim is way off on the servo.

Yeah cooling head is tight (tightened in x pattern) fuel line is good and idle screw isn't all the way in and the trim is fine

have you noticed any fuel around the backing plate?....also remove the fuel lines from the carb and exhaust...cover one side with your finger and blow in the other...it should hold pressure...if you blow hard enuff the fuel lid will pop up (that is if your sealed good)

I'll give it a look and try real fast.

EDIT: When i blow on it the head doesn't pop up but i hear air - don't know from where through.

find out were and you found your airleak


Id tank each line off and blow in them with your finger coverering the other end.....if that doesnt do it its most likely your fuel tank or the o-ring on the lid...if you can find a o-ring (automotive stores have them) try that...
