Engine Reassembly Help Needed

Hey once again!!It's your new resident RCNitro idiot needing more help!:DSo, after all the debate about whether I should break the motor down and clean it or not, I decided to just pop off the head and carb and spray em down with WD40 and put it back together.. Well, in the process of takin off the head, I find out that the piston "sleeve" will also come out, and there's also a itty bitty little "pin" layin beside the sleeve.. So, Im puttin it back together, and Ineed to know how far down this little pin should go?Cause (In the pic)is as far down as I could get it w/o introducing force of somekind.. So, I just need to know if this is good, or if the pin should go down flush with the top of the sleeve? (Cause the head will go back on fine, with it like it is now, sticking up)Thanks as usual, for the help!!

Mick....that must be a small block...I've never seen that pin on any of my .21's or .28's....with that said did you remove the sleeve or anything? was that sticking up when you removed the head?.....

my best assumption would be that that is an allignment pin to allign the sleave into the block ( I am bettin that there is a notch in the sleeve were that is, and will also be one in the block also)....but if you didnt remove the sleeve it SHOULD be alligned....but if you did remove the sleeve you will need to make sure the allignment is correct before putting it back together..

Yes, it's for alignment.. I took off the head and then moved the flywheel, which pushed the piston up, and up came the sleeve with the little pin already out and layin beside the sleeve (when I noticed it).. It must of came out when the sleeve rose upwards.. Anyway, curiosity solved it for me. I just removed the sleeve and figured out that the pin actually does go in further, so once it was all back together, the pin is actually flush with the top of the sleeve, and fits in a little notch to keep the sleeve from spinning.. So now all appears to be a-ok!!I just hope the thing runs next time I hook up the glow igniter and pull the cord!! Wish me luck!! :D
