Aftershock Body on a Backdraft?
 

Does anyone know if I would only needthe body posts and an Aftershock body to make this happen. Are the chassis similar enough in size (if not identical)?

Oh, and love the Backdraft so far. I would like to be able to switch back and forth between buggy look and stadium truck look. Thanks,

Chizzler, dont hold me to this, but I "think" someone on here did a build like your talking about! Do a search forthreads made by"ZielkeRacing" and see if he doesnt have a topic about converting one into the other.. Good luck!! Sounds like a cool conversion if it'll work!

Yeah, Ichecked that out. Looks like he started with an aftershock and put a JE concepts body on it. Starting with the backdraft, I'm not sure how the stadium truck bodies would line up...I was hoping someone with Redcat or someone who had both had a better idea. Thanks for the tip though...

you can absolutey without a doubt convert your backdraft to a corr truck by just switching the body mounts. in fact. the backdraft/aftershock wheel base is just about the same as a traxxas slash so any slash body will fit nicely. all you would need to do is drill the holes for your body post's and your all set. the other guy on here put a jconcepts dare body(made for a slash) on a aftershock and it looked really awesome. If I was aloud to run buggy wheels at my local track I would definitely have the same setup. but they have these gay rules that state if you run a corr truck you must run corr truck wheels, if you run a 1/8 buggy, you must run 1/8 buggy wheels and so on. good luck with your conversion. and be sure to post some pics. I plan to convert a backdraft to a truggy for this summer's outdoor racing up here in buffalo, but I fear it won't come out right because of the shorter buggy a-arms so I might be stuck racing the 1/8 buggy class. oh well i guess. it's all fun anyway you slice it. I just like truggy's better.

i have the front on the front stock body mount but the rear i had to remove the rear wing and the body is really just sitting there and i use a rubber band or zip tie to hold it. i still have to do more work on it i just haven't had time to finish it.

i like the slash body but its 1/10 scale right it may be to small to fit the 1/8 backdraft and others
look on ebay for used bodys
also try a truggy body it would easier to pick up a beat up for cheap and do a mach up and then once you see what you need and how to do it pick up  a good body and do the final set up.
thats what im doing with this cheap nikko body.

its made of hard plastic and will bust in a crash so i took almost like brake line and made a cage for it so when it flips it will land on the steel and not the plastic.

i am also planning on making a sand rail type of steel tube body for the backdrafts and sell them and they will look like a sand rail
i am also making steel a-arms, shock towers and other custom parts that i will be selling cheaper than the aluminum as well.

the backdraft and aftershock are the exact identical chassis. so a 1/10 slash body or any body made to fit a slash will fit them.

even though there rated at 1/8th scale, there not. if you set them side by side with a slash, there identical in size.

for the backdraft, just buy aftershock body mounts, and bumpers, and any slash style body will fit fine.

Its actually traxxas that misrepersents there sizes. A t-maxx or revo are the same sizes as 1/8th scale vehicles.

last time i checked a tmaxx and revo were considered 1/8th scale.


the corr short course trucks are the odd size ones. a 1/8th scale buggy, is the same size of any 1/10 scale short corse.

Traxxas actaully calls both of them 1/10th and what you said about the buggys is what i also said. If you feel the need to check again go ahead.

yea your right. not that i give a **** about the junk tmaxx, or the revo.

either way, all the sc trucks are called 1/10 and there deff bigger. and traxxas is deff not the first one to claim diffrent sizes.


the orig posted was only refering to the backdraft vs the aftershock. which are the exact same chassis with diffrent bodys.

I also feel the same way about the t-maxx! lol. Broke every time i took it out. Revo however i cant judge, never drove one. I agree the corr trucks have there own kind of scale which is mainly becuase of a full size truck body. A slash body will even fit the wheelbase of the monsoon.

And yeah all 3 of the 8e's run on the same chassis.

Here are some pics of the Earthquake 8e and the Backdraft 3.5 side by side and I took some pics of the suspension to show the similarities. They have identical A-Arms and shock towers. The Earthquake just has an extra piece that screws on to the shock towers for the body posts. Hope this helps you out. I did a conversion from a Vortex SS to a buggy and made a video of how to do it on youtube just search for my username on there to watch it. The great thing about Redcat is they use the same chassis for so many of the vehicles it makes it very easy to convert from one to another.

its real easy to do and cost me $8 instead of $200 buying the parts

No problem that's why I post so many pics of the vehicles that come through the stock photos are great but we like to see the real deal. Post some pics when you finish it up and let us see what it looks like.

those are the badland tires on Pro-Grip series performance devices wheels
they were cheap but are great in snow and dirt and mud.
but not so good on cement.
the car loves to grip and flip.. haha but they look sweet on the car
