Earthquake 8e Shocks causing gear problem?

Have had lots of problems with my Earthquake 8e eating up the diffs (ring and pinion)replaced all even the center diff. Could the shocks being to stiff cause it to mess up the gears. They are very stiff and if I adjust them the rebound doesnot change????? What can I do?

Can you check that the gears are meshing cleanly? A piece of paper is a good gauge for the gears being the right distance apart.

Anyone??????????? What fluid touse to make the front rebound better? They are just solid, the back works correctly.............. Just was wondering since they are not absorbing bumps and vibration could that have been the cause of my gear problem.

I cannot see how the shocks would play a role in your diff problems. Although I have not had to open my diff's up I have worked on my 1973 Mustang diff. Usually when you are having ring and pinion problems on a vehicle is has to do with the alignment of the two. In cars they use shims to obtain the correct backlash needed. Is it possible that a bearing is bad and not allowing the ring and pinion to mate up correctly? Again I cannot see how your shock (suspension) would play a part in this. I hope this helped.

At this point the shocks may not be what causeing my problem but how can I get them to soften up? I just got a Traxxas E Revo and the susp on that thing is solid but lots of rebound very soft.

The different shock oil will help with your problem. You will have to make sure that your shock is holding the fluid. If you visit your LHS they probably can offer oil that might suit your need.
