Default My first 4 spads

[8D]These are some of the first spads that I built and my wife likes to paint. After finishing the first one I asked my wife if she would put some color on my new spad so I can keep track of it in the air...She asked me what I had in mind? Oh just some striped on the bottom and something across the top edge would be fine...So off to bed I go and the the next morning This is the painting I wake up to...It just takes just one visit to that contagious web site called spad to the bone and your hooked...Its a love - Hate thing....I love all those great inventors to get me started and hooked,, I hate it that they won't come over to my house to help mow the lawn so my wife will let me go to the field....The planes are painted with Plaid folkArt Enamels made for glass & Ceramics. It will dry in 21 days or you can take your heat gun and heat set it in 10 minutes...I then clear coated it with Krylon non-yellowing polyurethane.. I also painted some mufflers and engines with this paint and then you can bake it in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes and so far they are holding up great..Enjoy the pictures.

Peashooter,

Beautiful! You're not REALLY going to fly those works of art are you? Your wife is a talented lady!

Love the red muffler! This could be the start of a new craze...

Blue skies,
DL

Oh, now you've done it. All of us die-hard spad guys will have to find a paint source and get painting. Once someone sees something like this, it's hard to keep the genie in the bottle.

Wonder how those paint jobs would look on my combat planes :>

Mr. Emailbanter, They would look really nice on a combat plane and you would do better than you ever did because nobody would want to knock you out of the sky from the fear that you wouuld actually have to kill them if they scratched your plane....I'll have to get a picture of all my mufflers put up that I baked in the oven they really could add some neat contrasts to a fighter....Cut up down big boy ....later RC

Hi Peeshoooter40,

You don't deserve your wive you talentless hump.... Ha Ha,,, Just kidding, and great to see ya here.
And by the way, where does the line start so I can stand in line for mine? Seems she is in demand.

I see you posted some of the others she has done, I have a few and will post the ones that I have used for the newsletter.

I just looked and all I have that you didn't show is one more view of Marty's.

She does a great job, the only thing you might share is where I can pick up some of this paint.
If you need any help with this site just drop me a line.

You are awfully lucky to have a wife that involved in your hobby that should be willing to share in it with you with whatever capabilities she has.

Gives me renewed faith in marriage...I didn't think that was possible.

I wish I had that Hawaii scene on a T-Shirt.

Ok Mr.Flyer57 I don't usually just hand out valuable information like where I buy my special paints but in your case I'll tell you because I know you couldn't find it anyway without your wife leading you around by your nose ring...Have her load you in the patty wagon drive the 4 blocks up to the great big Wal-Mart store and she will escort you to the very back isle where all the fabrics and art supplies are...Wa la la Their it is right in front of your nose in the paint section....The little bottles are in 2 oz. They are made by Plaid and called folkArt Enamels,,They have a great big E sticker on the very top of the bottle..Expesive ? Well for an old tight wad like you maybe but for the rest of us they are $1.79 per bottle..I suppose this wouldn't be a good time to ask for help on this site huh...See ya at the flightline...RC

You have any half bottles you can sell to an old tight wad!!!

When your wife hooks your nose ring to the same post as I happen to be hooked up to, we can chew the fat for a bit!!

I would say some fighting words, but your kid is bigger than me and your wife is meaner, and I don't want you to have to make the 911 call, under pressure you might forget the phone number, and I will have to drive myself to the vet!!

So soak in the hot tub, build some planes, and lets do some flying. Those spads shatter in the cold, so be careful and land only on the skis.[&:]

Morning Marshal,
Ya boy you hit the nail on the head that time, The one bad thing about the coro is if flying in the winter they tend to get real cold and brittle, kinda like a glass..Do you remember the Rat 3-D plane I had.. It was so cold we kept getting in the car to stay warm between flights and then it got away from me and tried to dig a hole in the ground with it prop...That poor rat exploded like a back window in a pontiac with a baseball going through it...for a $40.00 plane I never laughed so hard in all my life..I still had the building instruction book on the dash telling me how durable and industructable these planes are...hahahaha Catch you later RC

[&:]Ya Mr. 57 you should of been up around 4 am this morning when I left for work, It was so cold the lawyers had their hands in their own pockets...Here is a close up picture of he muffler they we painted with the expensive paint from Wal-Mart it is copper colored..One more thing I didn't like was the Muffler right on top of the wing so I cut a hole in it and put one of those rubber extensions on...It looks cool flying around and smoke coming out from under the wing..
Lets go fly I heard it was gonna get into the 20's

Hi Peeshoooter40,
Go have a close look at post 16, Urbanking is right, the engine does look trashed.
Were you able to save any of it or is it a total boat anchor[:@]
Call me and well fly, I just got another set of skis, and I have a new Waco that wants to fly.
I hate to test fly a new plane on skis, but I hate waiting for summer even more.

Ya Mr Flyer 57 this engine is on the duraplane that you test flew for me the other day out in the snow..I took it all apart and ported and polished and put a mac pipe on it and it will turn a master airscrew 10-6 to a good hum at 14,400 rpm...oh ya did i mention the 5500 feet of elevation too..Ya Mr Urbanking I got the rat off of E-bay and we sure had bun flying it.. It was the first one i ever put together and the wing was cooked as a dogs hind leg and had anti hedral in it and onece we got it trimmed out it was fun till it froze and hit the ground...
