Suitcase,
I had a GMS .47 on my Deb until I got a good deal on a Saito .72. When I put the Saito on the nose of Deb,
all I had to do to re-balance was move the battery back about 1.5" and it flies like a champ.
Try it, you'll like it!

Is there a possibility of the rubber-bands breaking during flight due to the greater demand placed on them from using the larger - faster engine?

Dusty1,
I've always gone by the rule of thumb that I was told when I built my first SPAD; "Use two rubber bands for every pound of airplane" and I've never had a wing come off. Well, there was that crash into the trees, but i digress...

I use about 8 or 10 rubber-bands on mine. I have a TT Pro .46 with an APC 11x6 prop and I generally fly at less than half throttle. It moves along at a pretty good pace.

Now to rehash all this,,, I just noticed that the Mag 1.08 actually weighs 23.6 oz. while the ST .61 weighs 26.7 oz. That's with the mufflers installed. Why not go with the 1.08, more power and less weight? The only draw back I see is the prop size. I might have to make my own landing gear to have clearance. What do you think?

I have a scaled up bughor with a Magnum 1.08 mounted. Flatstock aluminum landing gear isnt up to the job for this big plane. Bought a $14 Patty Wagstaff LG from Tower that has the wide footprint needed and also superior rigidity. Wagstaff LG raises the plane high enough for the prop clearance without having to resort to 5 inch wheels.

I had an FA-100 on a couple of different Debs. I found a 3 blade prop that worked well for ground clearance. I also supported the heck out of my LG with rubber bands - across the span between the wheels and from wheels up to front of motor mount. Worked real well, looked kinda goofy.
