Second flight on the spa3td, I had set a bolt thru the rear of the fuse to keep the elevator pushrod from bending on full down elevator. In flight the rod must have flexed and gone to the bottom of the bolt. I was flying at the end of the field gave full down elevator to come back to me ( outside half loop) and i lost the throw. She piled in full throttle into the hillside. Had i had 5 more feet it would have made it. Poor reengineering on my part.
Lg twisted- fixable, Alum fuse- bent a little -repairable, motor mount shattered, found engine down the hill- ive got more cutting board - no problem. everything else is fine.
She flew much better on the second flight , the engine was dialed in better.
If this was balsa the entire nose and probably the le of the wing would have exploded.
I gotta build me more spads.
Thanks to the guys who keep passing the torch. You dont read about this stuff in the magizines. Why? Nobody makes money off of SPADS.

HA!
Actually I got my channel for a buck because the end ( cut off ) was bent.
Sadly I put a magnum 52 on the plane, added weight to the tail to balalnce at 7". WHOA it was a wild ride, too tail heavy, much faster. I broke it again. I got more parts though :-)
The whole process has got me motivated to experiment though.
Once I have this squared away maybe a twin boom single engine pusher
