Default Tail Dragger Debonair Question

I'm thinking of converting my Debonair to a tail dragger. Where should I put the main landing gear? How far back from firewall? Thanks.

Addict2RC,

You're going to love the Deb as a tail dragger! The main landing gear (axle) should be directly below the leading edge of the wing. Any further back and the plane will want to nose over on take off or landing. Any further forward, and it won't be able to rotate well on take off.

I've used the tail wheel like Tattoo and Chris have described, and it works like a champ. Don't forget pics and flight report!

Blue skies,

DL

I built a large Deb (72"ws, 60" fuse) OS .46fx and made it a taildragger. I love it too!!

here are a couple pics, it has a steerable tail wheel also
