Default Mixing Spad Designs

I recently made a Debonair with slight modifications.
I used the Spadet LC-40 wing design on it and I also centered
the vertical Stabilizer instead of mounting it on one side or the other.
Do any of you think this will work?

I guess the only way to know is to take it to the flying field and find out.
If successful I'll post photos and a description on its flight characteristics.

That's what Spad is all about, and if your airplane is built straight and true and balanced correctly, it will fly beautifully! After all, the guys who started the Spad sight designed several hundred airplanes between them...the airplane were simply created in their brains more or less out of thin air following basic principles...built, and then flown...the best of them were added to the site. The whole theme of this concept is to use the ideas to create your own airplane...either per plan, mix and match ideas...or try something totally new, and the feeling you get when it takes to the sky is priceless[8D]

Not sure of the SPADet wing area but if it's not to much less than the Deb OR a lot more it'll be fine.

SPAD is THE best thing for trying stuff out, quick AND cheap

Tattoo,
Thanks for the encouragement. Are you one of the original spad designers/creators?

Woodsy,
I believe the Spadet LC-40 has a larger wing area than the Deb. So I should be fine.
The Spadeet LC-40 can be seen at this link http://www.spadtothebone.com/SPAD/Spadet/

Thank you for your input,

I had a Deb setup almost exactly as you describe yours. I actually preferred the Spadet wing to any of the other wings I tried.

I used 3 different wings on my Deb (had to install some extra dowels to make the different wings balance).
1. Spadet Wing - The best - fastest roll rate - Best glide (float) - Slowest landing.
2. HOR Wing - Pretty good - had flutter problems before using 2 aileron servos - lands a little hot.
3. Original Deb wing with 2 spars - not that good - I learned to fly with it but the others blew it away.

I much prefer wings with a 2 mil top on them the airfoil comes out so nice it's just sweet.

Mine was also a tail dragger. Give that a shot next you won't be sorry.

I may just have to go home and build a new fuse after talking about this!

Yep, Tattoo and Kraut are the 2 guys credited with starting this madness.
So it's all THERE fault i spend too much $$$$ on this hobby, without SPAD i'd still be standing on the side lines.

Thanks Captain351, It sounds like I have chosen a good mix.

When I was trying to decide which spad to build I really liked the Spadet LC-40,
but not having any experience I chose the Deb for my first plane. The Spadet LC-40
Wing design had a cleaner look to it.
I have already built a tail dragger version of this mix.
The wing didn't turn out as good as the first I built, but if I have problem I can make another one.
I also mounted the vertical & horizontal stabs like an SNS as well as trimming the fuse like the SNS.
I'm curious to see if it works.

Thanks,
