Default radio suggestions

I guys,

Wondering if any of you could help me decide the best radio for my upcoming Spazzler.

here are the two that I am considering

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXEUM2**&P=0

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXGZW3**&P=0

I think I will be able to do all the mixing with flaps, and elevator with both.

a big difference is the screen on top on the airtronics and the screen on the bottom on the hitec

I am leaning tords the airtronics. looks a little more user friendly.
and the screen on the top would seem a better position to me.

Thanks!

between those two, I'd take the hitec. Both basically the same BUT the hitec gives you 8 models. AT only has 4.

You gonna run out of memory real quick with only 4 planes.

BTW, I don't usually look at the screen when I'm flying so IMHO it don't matter where that is.

both are decent radios, but, your much better off buying more radio than you think you'll ever need. Chances are, you'll grow into it quicker than you expect, and its cheaper in the long run to skip the midgrade radio altogether.

Thanks Guys,

Chris would you have another suggestion for me altogether?

I am not sure what other options I should be looking for as all I have used up until now
is a simple four channel.

i have a futaba 9c. Its a little pricier - 385 at tower i think, with a flight pack, but, its all the radio you'll probably ever need. I sure do love mine. If i could somehow justify it, i'd upgrade to a 14mz, but, 2200 bucks is a heck of a lot of coroplast. lol, and my 9c has been able to do everything i've ever needed - I've had several large planes that use 8 channels. (thats the largest rx's i have).

I think www.servocity.com sells the 9c transmitter only as well.

Another option would be the Hitec eclipse 7, i think its about 210 - but, it will not do crow in acrobatic mode, which makes it useless for 4 servo wings, for the most part. Servo city has them as well, if i remember correctly.

For $200.00 you may as well go with the Tracker III and wow is this your first radio ?

Good Luck

Ya
I have been flying around on a standard four channel radio that I took off of my nexstar.

I am ready for a little more.(anyone need a nexstar wing and fuse?)

The misses said I have to stay around $300 for the motor and radio

So I am thinking no more then $400. The K&B .61 is $100(for now)
I figure a $225-$250 for the radio and extra servo and I should have a good set-up.

Thanks for the input guys. I don't have the funds to get out of the midgrade radios right now.

Just making sure I don't go after something I will totally regret.

This will be a giant step for me. And will be the first project I have really taken seriously.
until now I have been building for training purposes. Now that I can fly and land it is time to learn some
skills.

I can't wait!!!!!!!

I plan to build next weekend. And knowing how SPAD's go now, weather permitting, should have it in the air.

If you want a new radio immediately do not order the Tracker III. Mr. Polks is waiting on parts to complete the radio. Other than that the spazzler looks like a cool plane to fool around with. Have you flown inverted with your trainer ? I'm not questioning your skills but once I did this I new it was time to move on.

Are you going to build your spazz out of complete coro ? After finding square PVC I can't come up with a reason to use coro for the fuse.

Good Luck and I hope you get what you want.

Ya,
I could fly the nexstar inverted and all. Well that was about all it could do.

The Demons I have bult have been very fast, inverted and cartwheels and such, but have only had four channels to play with.

I have not dressed them up much, and I think the Spazzler will be a much more aerobatic plane.

I plan to build the fuse out of coro to get the taper tail right. I think it will be strong too.

I have 8 4x8 sheets in three colors to play with so might as well use it.
