Self Taught Pilots

RE: Self Taught Pilots
It is an airplane movie, so yes. Some good scenes and some silly scenes. I flew a camera plane in the filming of "The Right Stuff" and a friend of mine was killed during the shoot. Footage ended up getting cut.

Just remember guys find A large place to land your spads. Dodging fences, houses, trees and powerlines will really make it a challenge.
Goodluck and have fun.

For the camera shoot? A Cessna 206 in Texas (full size). My friend was on location in California when his accident occurred. Part of the scene when he was killed made the movie but not the actual death of course.

Keep at it, you'll get there. Biggest I've flown was CV-580 and smallest was kinda a tie between Cub, Decathalon, Pitts and C-140. Most time was in DHC-6.

RE: Self Taught Pilots
Did you ever hear about that film crew, working on a war movie actually took down a stunt pilot in a helicopter? Flying too low, right over some special effects explosion. Killed not only the pilot, but some actors on the ground.
-Correction: The pilot was not killed. Just actors on the ground.

On 23 July 1982, actor Vic Morrow, and juvenile Asian actors Renee Chen and My-ca Le were killed during an accident on set. SFX caused a helicopter to crash, killing all three instantly. Chen and Le were not officially part of the cast, and their parents had been paid in cash, because it is illegal for children to work at that hour (the crash was at about 2:30 am). A decade later, director 'John Landis' and four others were found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
Got that from IMDB.COM
NTSB report said it was during the filming of an attack on a vietnam village.
