extreme speed spad ?
wondering what it would take to build an extreme speed spad ?
if i built it with a swept wind design, and gave it a tail, what would it take to push a spad past 130 ?
discuss

ummmmm, Although EPP foam is strong , a .60 definitly will be a bit much unless you have a foam wing that is 60" or bigger and then you are back to flying slow.

Just enlarge the Spad Diamond Dust for your 60. Chris would know how big to make it.

i would???? ok, if you wanted me to guess, off the top of my head, i'd say 40ish inches span. 35" is the 40 size diamond dust size. The key is to keep the wingloading something this side of sane - it won't hand launch otherwise.

A YS .61 Dust....oooooh my!!!!!!
I wounder if it would swing an 11 X 11 prop at 15,000 rpms?
That would be over 150MPH
You need to have some one take a video of the maiden.
And where some depends.
Good luck.
Can't wait to see some pics.
This is going to be cool.

im probably going to have to take a **x14 prop and cut it way down eventualy as ive been told that the ys .61 long stroke cant been spun to fast
and im prolly gonna build it way to light too, lol

RE: extreme speed spad ?
My club has a pylon event requiring a stock .25 with a street price under $100 with no mods. Even the muffler must be stock. The plane must also take off from the ground from fixed landing gear. I'm thinking a fixed single nose gear with a racing wheel and a fixed tail wheel or skid at each wing tip just long enough to keep the elevons out of the dirt. The fastest planes are Vipers and Predators that run about 95mph. Do you think a stock sport .25 will haul a SPAD Diamond Dust with landing gear fast enough? How long do you think the takeoff run will be?
