Default spad 3dt for second plane?

hi i was wondering if the 3dt was suitable for a second plane?,ive never flown a 3d plane but im currently flying a trainer and i like the idea of a fun fly type plane that flies easy but that is capable of hovering and such like!!.i have an os 46 la engine in the trainer would this be good enough or would i need more power?,or is there another plane that i could use it in that will hover?.also id like to be able to hand launch the plane too is this possible and whats the best way to do it?.any help would be great guys thanks!!.

I would agree with exeter acres, my last student went from an avistar to spa3d, not very pretty. I would suggest a DPS for a second plane if you want a spad

You could hand launch the DPS if need be, just jeave the gear off. If you did want to R.O.G., the DPS would be fine. I have a TT Pro 46 on mine, gets off the ground in pretty short order. As far as other fun fly type spads, check out the QHOR, they fly more like "conventional" planes, the "Spazzler" could be another alternative. You really need to learn how to use the rudder for the spa3d

I built a DPS with an OS .46 AX... no gear.. hand launch, belly land.....

They are fun, but be careful... it has a glide ratio equal to a set of car keys![:@]

Dead stick with DPS = bad things!

but in its defense... it is darn near indestructable!

Here's a link to a video of a modified Qhor, powered by a Thunder Tiger 42GP.....which is real similar to your 46LA in power and weight. As you will see, your 46LA will work fine.
