I have been making my firewalls out of the white cutting board material (as mentioned in most of the spad sites) and another product called UHMW-PE . Crash after crash, I usally end up replacing screws rather than motor mounts.

This mount took a nose dive straight in from about 15 feet today and didn't get a scratch.
