Default changing rubberband wing mount to bolt down?

Has anyone converted their Debonair wing mount from rubberbands to 1/4" nylon bolts? I'm concerned about getting the angle of the bolts to match the curvature of the LE of the wing.

When I've mounted bolts through coroplast, I use wooden blocks inside the wing, glued to the spar. Then, cut out holes in the top of the wing big enough for the head of the bolt to rest on top of the wooden block.

Not sure how you could do it after the wing is built.

I can cut a piece of PVC to span the width of the wing wrap to keep the bolts from digging into the coro and to provide support. The coro is fairly thick at both the LE and TE, so I don't think compression will be a problem. I may be able to put a wood wedge just inside the cut out on top of the fuse, with blind nuts set in it to accept the bolts. This may help to keep the angle of the bolt heads parallel to the angle of the LE.

Using fender washers with that method may add another level of security also.

The LE bolt will go in straight as the hole in the pvc will be tapered a bit when you cut through it straight down. I have done numerous wings this way and i havent had one fail yet.

That's a lot easier than trying to use a wedge and going in at an angle, thanks.

Glad to help out On the LE you will see a slight mashing down of the wing but just the bolts snug so the wing is tight against the fuse. Oh and the back bolt will be close to the edge of the wing just make sure it goes through the 4 mm center peice between the alierons. Good luck
