Default Tail wheel or skid on Spitfire?

I am building a corospitfire scaled up to suit a 61 engine. I am wondering what I should use on the tail, a tail wheel or just a skid. Does it really matter which one I use?
Also can anyone please direct me to some information on either making, or perhaps buying a canopy for my spitfire?
