Derelict / Dogfighter Combo
I have a question that hopefully I could get some opinions on. In short, I want to use a dogfighter wing with the V-Tail similar to a derelict. The main differences that I notice at a glance seem to be the wingspan, wing bottom material thickness and possibly the weight of the dogfighter wing compared to the derelict's due to the difference in materials used for the spar, wing span and wing bottom thickness. My questions are if I do use the Dogfighter wing should I make any adjustments to the wing span and/or v-tail dimensions or even to the fuselage? Also should I go by the directions for the dogfighter or derelict fuse? They appear to be very similar with a few subtle differences. Thanks!

that whole series of planes are basicly interchangeable. I have done many dogfighter wings in all 2 mil and 48" long and they have been awesome flyers. the all 2 mil wing will offer the best performance. ecpecialy if you are using them in combat where the weight is an issue. experiment! my boy stuck a corostang wing with a w.s. of 52" on a dogfighter fuse, it rocked!

Cool! Thanks for the response. When using the 2mil do you use the same construction methods using a separate piece for the top and bottom part of the wing? If so what direction do you run the flutes on the bottom section? Also do you just sandwich a strip of 4mil for the ailerons? Thanks again!

for an all 2 mil wing, its just one peice, no seems on the leading edge like on the RANF type. the flutes run the cord direction, so you are folding against them. score the line to get a fold, sandwitch the 4 mill for ailerons.
there is a guy on you tube that has put a bunch of build videos together, a little on the onry side but tons of info. "draftman11" will get you there. almost all phases of spad building are demonstrated

I went the opposite way, and put a Dogfighter tail on a Derelict. Our club uses Derelicts for combat, but I never liked the V tail.
After a full speed crash into the cornfield, in which the muffler went through the leading edge, I remounted the engine at a 45 degree angle.
Good luck
