Questions about the Spadstick and DPS

What is the weight and flying characteristics of these two planes? Which one is lighter and which one has more aerobatic ability? I'm asking because I want both planes and have a O.S. .46la and a Magnum XLS .46 and I cant decide which engine for which plane.

RE: Questions about the Spadstick and DPS

DPS suffers from being a quicker build AND the desire to get x number of planes from a stock stick of fuse. I stretched the wing and tail on mine and it works better then it did stock. However, I did fly it in the normal config for 2 years without much complainin. It's just stretching the wing made it float a bit, really floats when I use flaperons. And lengthening the tail a bit takes care of the increased tendency to wing wag thanks to the longer wings.

I'd stick the Magnum in the Spadstick and put the LA on a HOR. It's just what I'd do. The Hor's fly pretty good with a 25 pro on them and the la 46 is about the same output.

I did something similar with my DPS only left the wing as recommended and extended the fuse to 30 inches. It is still agreat flying plane.

I've got a TT 42 on my PBF. The 46 might actually be lighter as it's the 40 case bored out. Lighter is actually better but reliable trumps power.

the .46la is probably the most reliable engine ive ever owned

Take a look at Dave McDDD's page and look at the the McDDD. It's got landing gear, bigger engine and is a tad easier to fly then the PBF. Plus it can take the weight of a bigger engine.
