Yes! I'm stoked!

I found a place that has the 4mm stuff in 3 x 6 ft sheets. PERFECT for the "spa3dt".

So, I tell the guy at the sign shop what I'm buying the coroplast for...

The dude looks at me and I can see it in his eyes:

"This is why I'm in business for myself? All the small business loans. In hock
up the wazzoo. working 16 hours a day. Struggling in my little strip mall sign shop.
And this brain surgeon comes in all excited about turning my raw material into what?

A toy airplane?"

-Undaunted, I march out, throw the 3 sheets into the suv I borrowed from my friend and
head straight to Lowes for the aluminum square stock and hardware with a gleam in my eye,
daydreaming about torque rolls, harriers, flat spins...

Big Daddy you are very eloquent...
Thanks.

As an engineer in the (full scale) aircraft industry it's *too* easy to get *too* serious.
So, I wax poetic to make fun of myself at every opportunity.

A year ago the sun shined on me the day I decided to take up this hobby. Three planes (all intact) later and I'm mercilessly hooked.

-"Tattoo" made it happen again when I discovered his simple yet, by all accounts, stunningly effective aircraft design.

From one engineer to another: Well done.

I'm looking forward to building and flying this little beast.

Thanks man! [8D] There's no engineering in me though (strictly grease monkey[8D])...I guess you could say my formal training comes from the several billion paper airplanes I made while growing up[8D]

No engineering??? This is hard to believe coming from someone who spent time to do research and give us the wonderful stepped airfoil (J-wing) for the QHOR and SPA3D ???

Strictly grease monkey????

Sorry Tattoo, your not getting of that easily, your stil a Coro Guru to most of us, even if your too bashful to admit it!!!

By the way, paper planes do need engineering (coz thats all I could afford as a kid!!! :D)

Well Big Daddy, I know what you mean.... I have been hooked since 1980 or so and still love it, I may have taken a sabbatical or two from it, but I never have quit flying since then... I love it, I get to build then fly btw, I do the same at work too, and I am guessing for the same company as you based on your location. I meant the Eloquent thing as a tongue in cheek compliment, I to agree we take things too serious sometimes. I f you cant laugh at yourself, how can you really appreciate humor? I crack me up!!!!:D

whadda ya mean, no engineering. I saw a H.O.R. BIPE this weekend at the "calling all HORS" in the Ft. Worth Area! He's building me the hardware. Now, if I could find the SPAD site to get the wing dimensions, all would be right with the world.

Actually...a grease monkey's tendency is to always find a quicker easier way to get something done. I think the only thing I'm a guru at is being cheap and lazy :)...you see, with the J-wing I didn't see anything that took engineering...I saw a wing that I basically didn't have to finish:D Oh and BTW, if anyone is wondering, the J wing works awesome upside down also...makes the wing look like a tobbagon[8D]

Maybe that's why bicycle mechanics were able to get it done in 1903 while many others were failing miserably :)

Tattoo,

While being a guru of cheap, as long as you keep sharing your great ideas, we will support your cheapness fully, since we also get savings :D:D

By the way Tattoo, you will be happy to kow that SPADS are poised to be the next greatest tool for training and getting more people into the hobby, here in Malaysia. So you have had an international impact (with or without grease):D:D

Thanks for spreadding the fun MalaysianFlyer!!! That's GREAT!!!:):)

Speaking of bike mechanics...I worked as a Schwinn certified bike mechanic from 1975 to 1980...but it took almost 20 years to realize bike spokes make great pushrods[8D]

BLAST!

Looks like I'm paying my new friend another visit sooner than I had anticipated...

Naw, heck with that,

I'm going to add the graphics to my new plane with black electrical tape in bold and exciting shapes and patterns!
