1/2"OD square aluminum tubing...where is it?
I have been hunting around for some 1/2" OD Square hollow aluminum tubing, with possible 1/8" gage. I have yet to find any. I want to use this to experiement on making some fuselages. They would be constructed similar to the Kombat Airmadillos.
A couple of the metal places I called around here said "minimum purchase 250#", or "nah, we ain't got it." Any suggestions? |

in Aus 1/2" is reasonably easy to get, try screen door/window makers or marine supliers, or shop fit out companies.

Who needs square aluminum... I noticed this thread is a little old but what the hey. Most of the time I find it is hard to get away to the club field and fly my real planes. I have been flying this out of my back yard which has presented some real challenges considering there seems at time to be more trees than lawn and there is always a cross wind or tail wind on my only approach.
Needless to say this has been crashed a lot of times and keeps on ticking. I decided to try using some oak as a replacement fuse instead of buying another one from the Airplane Factory. I saved myself 25 bucks and this actually fly better and is lighter than the original frame. As you can seen in the pictures, a little time on the band saw with a piece of 3/4 inch oak and an old piece of carbon arrow shaft and you are back in business. |

Still not 1/2" but they have 3/4" square with .065" wall....plus a lot of other shapes and sizes. I buy my landing gear flatbar from them.
