Another It's not coro but...

This is another foam plane like southern_touch9's:

I got this done a few weeks ago and it flies GREAT! Right away I was able to flatspin, hover, harrier, etc.

I'm running a MECOA 46 on it with an AUW at 4lbs 8oz. This one is built from 3/4 inch blue insulation foam, NOT fan fold. I did put dowel spars in the wing. I was able to pull some pretty good G's and the wing held.

It will fly like a "normal" plane very well too, not just 3D stuff. I'm so happy with it I'm building a 2nd one a bit bigger for one of my .68's. This thing is SPAD all the way. Glue in the spars, engine mount and a hardwood edge to the fuse and you are good-to-go. You don't need to cover it, but I like my planes to look good.

Video and details are available on my website. Video #2 is better because the wind had died down.

This video was the first flight with LOTS of wind. I couldn't do much.

How did you hinge the control surfaces? Is it covered with Monokote or painted? Any special tricks for this?

Thanks Woodsy. Yes, it's a flat plate wing. I cut a small trench in the top and bottom to flush mount the dowl spars. They were glued in with Poly glue.

Like this:

It is covered in sign vinyl. I've tried Monokote, but the heat from the iron swells and distorts the foam. You can paint it if you use Testor's spray paint. It is foam safe. Regular spray paint will eat the foam.
