Spad Diamond Dust
 

Anyone have a clue where I can get plans for the DDust SPAD? I have a few rear exhaust speed engines laying about I think I'll unlimber and use. We just had an election and I have a literall truckload of coroplast political signs.Most 4x8 feet!

or just upsize everything to get a 46 size plane (35" wing span).

I just built one of these and with a Magnum .28 without any engine mods it will do around 90 mph in a dive. It is built from the plans on chris' web site.AUW is 2lbs 4 oz. I plan to try and build one a little bigger and put a Rossi .45 on it. With the right engine on this thing I think it will out run anything at your feild.

Ended up building two of the DDust. One with a piped OS .25 V rear exhaust and the other scaled up a bit with a Dub Jett .46 Jett Fire rear exhaust and piped. DAMN.........these things BLISTER....... The .46 size will probably do 135 or more on a 9X8.5 APC prop! Probably going to put retracts on the bigger one since the coroplast is so easy to work with.

i'm glad your enjoying them, my latest one, sized to the plans, with a tt36 pro, screams. i'd guess around 130. I'd bet the big one with the Jett on it really hauls!

Chris, great plans. For some reason I have a (temporary need for speed syndrome) and the spad dust is the perfect cure. They build real fast and fly even faster. I built this one in one day and scaled it up to accomodate a Rossi .45. It has a 34" wing span and 23" chord. This one actually flies better than the first one I built. I think I had the CG too far foreward making it drop out of the sky when you cut the thottle. The bigger one slows down nice and floats in for perfect landings.

My glided pretty well. I literally blew off the fuel tank and had to land dead stick with the big one. No problem. Glided fine!

Did you use poly cutting board for the motor mount?

No......I cut one out of some aluminum stock I had laying around with a bandsaw. Works great. I never had any sucess with the cutting boards.

What servos are you guys using and have you had any problems with flutter?

I used some "heavy duty" metal geared I had laying around and a micro on the carb. No flutter as of yet. Like I posted earlier, the ddust with the Dubb Jet engine on it was fast enough to literally blow the gas tank off.Knock on wood....no problems, but it's not going to be pretty when and if it happens!
