How do you glue to Vinyl ????

I am building a spad fuse out of one of those white Vinyl fence posts, and need to glue some wood blocks, and servos inside. The vinyl is pretty flexible, What kind of glue do you guys use on this stuff ???? [sm=confused.gif]

Thanks

I use Welder Adhesive. It cures flexible and it is very strong.

Home Depot has Gorilla Glue, or marine adhesives that work well too. You need to prep! Use sand paper or heat (small handheld torch) to remove the silicon in the vinyl, then even CA will work.

This past weekend I returned my Sickle to kit form after a full power dive into the woods surrounding our field. I wanted to salvage some of the parts for the next fuselage so I began unscrewing rudder mounts, firewall etc. When I tried to salvage the skid that I had CA'd to the fuselage bottom in front of the wing, it broke the skid before the CA bond broke. Needless to say, CA will attach whatever you want to the Vinyl fuselage tube.

Is this an echo? LOL Yes, CA works, but be careful to prep the surface...paint sticks to cars for awhile too, but good prep makes a difference down the road. Check out http://www.engine-display.com/produc...l-aircraft.htm , this is the way to go, Roger figured out how to get everything built and this one flies extremely well, he even put a demo video online to prove it. I was the camera man! For rudder, Roger uses screws, helps ship it to customers easier I guess, and replacement doesn't require a grinder.

Yes, I guess you could say "This is an Echo". Would you also have to add "Touche"? Bottom line is, CA holds well also.

I use screws (or zip ties) to secure everything to the PVC fuse... the only thing I glue is the antenna tube and the control link tubes. Don't have to worry about glue joints failing and makes rebuilding easier.

Paul, be carefull with those screws. My Sickle's hatch is screwed down with #4 X 3/8" SM screws. After a few flying sessions I noted fuel dripping out from behind the firewall. I thought I had a split in a fuel line. Found out some dummy had run the two front hatch screws into the fuel tank [&:]. I was able to repair the tank with some milk bottle material and a soldering iron and I also cut the screw length to miss the tank.

Shoe Goo , Goop or CA . They all work. Abrade the surface with a ScotchBrite pad and some paint thinner. Wipe cleean and apply.
