I updated the list of pilots. Please double check the list to make sure it is correct and if you are still trying to get into the race, fill out a registration form online and I will put you on the waiting list.
Also,
With the amount of pilots, I will have designated spots for the parking of cars and rv/trailers. It will be clearly marked with orange or white. Also, Jeff Robinson will be out there all week so if you have questions, please see him when you pull in before parking. I will be there on Thursday night after work. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Break-in complete on the new 115 WS in my 6 year old FW190.
Building on a backup plane now to install my old 115 that I've modded to WS level.
The last year inactive has not as of yet taken any edge off my comfort level with the speeds.
This is going to be fun..... Hehehehehe

What is going on?????
Are you just Humble?
Are you just Afraid?
Are you Shy?
Are you changing your way?
I have not heard any trash talk besides on text messages. I know that there is a lot of pilots but don't be afraid of everyone, you will do good. I know that you all are shaking in your shoes but once you start racing, that will go away. Overall, you guys in Silver are lucky that I moved to gold because now you have a chance at that first place. Sorry gold pilots, you will just have to go for 2nd.
See you all at the finish line,
Your favorite and only Trashman

So truth or myth time,
Does the shiny chrome finished ultracote or monokote cause RF interference?
I am not wanting to find out the hard way after I have put this P-40 in the air.
Thanks

I had one covered entirely in chrome Monokote, used with 72 MHz and 2.4GHz receivers, and had no problems with interference.

I have had an issue with chrome monokote. It was some older stuff so may have been the issue. It was when I first switched from 72 to 2.4. on 72 worked fine and changed out the receiver to 2.4 at the field and could get more than 10 feet on high power and went crazy. swapped two more 2.4 receivers and the same thing. This was back in the DSM2 days though. The covering was all scratched up to simulate the worn look. may have had something to do with it. just do a good range check to see

If using Futaba or DSM protocol, To be safe route the antenna from the Rx out side the fuse if needed. Then tape it to the fuse. We at team JR have a team pilot member build an airplane out of real alumn and flew in scale series. The new JR DMSS performed flawlessly with no issues. What protocol are you using?

BTW: I will need someone to hand launch me at the start line....

Definitely route the antenna out the fuse and tape it down. I have heard the stories of brown outs, fades and lock outs with this scenario.
For years jet guys were having to do this and others with carbon or other metals interfering. Then just do your 30' walk back with power down and circle the plane. I strongly suggest 2 remote rxs.

If you can confirm that the chrome Monokote does in fact contain metals then yes your antenna should go outside. I have heard the same stories about metallic paints. Then again some claim to have built full aluminum R/C airplanes and run 2.4 without issue so the reality is that it really is a case by case situation. My theory is that if there is enough signal leakage then it would work fine. However on a model completely covered in a metallic film there isn't much seepage there, not like an aluminum structure with a large canopy area. In that situation signal reflection within the aircraft would be the issue. RF is a funny thing, I have been fortunate enough to have worked in the aircraft antenna industry. To say things change when placed next to an aluminum structure is an understatement. It was common to have to reproduce the mounting area of an aircraft such as a fuselage section or a wing tip in order to get realalistic transmission patterns from an antenna.
So so the realistic answer to Tommy's question is to err on the safe side, run the antenna external but not directly on the covering and run maybe 2 satellites and range check the crap out of it.
