Getting started in T-34 racing

I'm new to the whole T-34 racing thing. I fly mostly 3D. I just joined Sccmas and got a bunch of T-34 parts from crashed planes (it was one of the races, 13 crashes). I have slaped together a T-34 built up of about 6 different planes. What are the basic rules? I heard that you have to use an OS 46 to race. Can I us a tower 46? It is the only 46 I have. What are some tips for racing? Thanks!

Hi Kevin, I was there, I went to your booth but didn't know if that was you. I was the short kid with sunglasses. I finally finished my T-34 and was thinking of maidening it this weekend at tomcats. Hopefully everything will hold up!

OK, I maidened my T-34 today! It flies great! I wasn't expecting it to fly so well with all the repairs. It is pretty fast with the master airscrew 11/8. I'm gonna change to a 11/6 then see how fast it goes. Muhahahaha. LOL. Kevin, can I use a tower hobbies 46 engine? I don't have an os and can't afford a new engine right now. Do I need to have a cowl and a canopy to race? Is my T-34 even allowed to race because of the repairs? Thanks!!

thanks for the quick reply kevin! i started flying my t-34 the other day after it was given to me by a fellow club member. he says that it is to be loved then if posible, passed on in time. well, i crashed on take-off yesterday and i need a new canopy, engine mount and a new cowl for starters. i love this little plane and i am eager to get back in the air with it. i was wanting to change the cowl anyway sence i took it over and put my st 40 2 stroke in the nose. the original owner had a .52 4-stroke in it and the cowl had to be cut again to fit my engine. the cowl is on the must change list now for sure.

Ok, I changed to a 10/7 apc prop and can't wait to fly it this weekend! I also recovered the entire plane from top to bottom. The first pic is of the old, horrible, and down right ugly scheme. All the other pics are of the new scheme.
