YS 115??? I don't find one at YS parts or Central Hobbies. I find a YS 110. Are you sure

RE: YS 115

The 115FZ-s replaces the 1.10 and the 70FZ-S replaces the .63 (same mounting patterns). YIPPEE!!!!!!

Yeah but how much is it gonna be?

RE: YS 115

Um................probably MORE!? :D

RE: YS 115

First it's a .91, then a 1.10 and now a 1.15. Don't these guys realize we have a wing area chart to deal with? :D

You're killing me Larry

RE: YS 115

Better yet, it's nearly a 1.20 in a .91 case, and a .70 jammed into a .53 case. More displacement and power with the same external dimensions. It almost feels like cheating, doesn't it? ;)

hi tony
do you have more info about this engine and when it is going to be available.
kosuwin

RE: YS 115

kosuwin,

I don't have any more information than what I saw in the ad in the current Model Aviation magazine. Larger displacements, same mounting dimensions.

RE: YS 115

I called YSpartsandservice and he said according to the manufacturer, the 70 should be here late August/early September. The 1.15 near the end of the year. I guess I had better patch up my 1.10s. :(

If I was a dealer, I'd be a little miffed at YS for announcing the 1.15 so far ahead. It's got to make selling the remaining 1.10's and .63's tougher. I know I'm going to be putting some money aside for the 1.15.

Blessings, Terry

RE: YS 115

I don't think dealers stock many of these at a time; they're difficult to get. I've had to wait months.

When anything new comes out, if there's any demand for it at all (and if it's replacing another item), there's a good chance that someones going to get stuck with yesterday's merchandise. If the word gets out early, sometimes the dealer gets stuck. If the new product hits the market without advance notice, then they guy who just bought the older version the week before gets stuck with the old stuff. Either way, somebody's not going to be happy. I've had it happen to me both ways.

For those who built miminum-area planes for the 1.10, you're sort of stuck (like we were with our .91-size T-34s). For those flying ARFs like the World P-51 that could use more engine, the 1.15 won't be such a bad deal. I'll just have to blow up my existing stock of 1.10s, and that shouldn't be difficult ;)

I've got five of those little .63s, and every one of those planes could use bigger engines. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. This could get expensive.

RE: YS 115

Hey Tony,

I'm sure you're right but still I have to wonder how many orders they will be getting for 1.10's in the next few months, knowing that a 1.15 is coming out. And, your right, most of the ARFs everyone is flying are large enough for a 1.20, so the 1.15 is a natural since good 1.20's are getting hard to come by.

For those who built custom sized planes for the 1.10, they can just do like you and up the nitro. :D

Blessings, Terry

When is this available for sale?? or where can you buy it now? I can see it on the YS japan website, but can't actually find it for sale anywhere or a release date? are any of the external dimensions different or bigger than the YS110FZ-S? or is it just a bore/stroke kit to get the extra 005?

Terry, they are still selling lots of the 110 motors. Lots of racers here in Sacto have built planes with the required 515" wing to run the 110 so they are happy staying with the same engine. However, they have made a few more changes to the 115 other that stroke, Redesigned the pressure regulator to say the least. This motor will open up many doors if you are already running a 535" wing and want to lower the nitro a little. I WON'T! I'll just fly wider. You should come up and give it a try sometime, Like ahhhh Sept 26th and 27th.

Who is still stocking the 110? I called around and it seemed they were all out of stock and waiting for the 115. Your race in Sept is tempting now that Kingman has canceled their race. I'll see what I can do about making it.

Yes I saw the picture of the 1.15. The regulator looks like the one they have been using on the Heli motors. It will be interesting to see if the 1.15, with the longer stroke, can out turn the 1.10.

Blessings, Terry

Testing reports on 20% show 700 RPM Gain, However Higher Nitro should scale up I'm thinking. Along with the price. Hope to see you there. We all camp out on Friday and your welcome to come Friday and test to find a class that makes you happy.

How does it compare to the 120SC?

Where did you see testing reports? I would love to look those over.

Do you have a link to the info on the Sept. race?

Thanks, Terry

Thats a good question Chris, In my own opinion formed from running both for a long time I would have to say that Given the 120SC is a deal heaver and also you must run 550" wing not to mention the cost and maintinance is much higher, I will give the nod to the 115. Actually I flew a YS91 powered plane as a back up in the last race that when flying wide and backing down to only a 12X12 APC it's a breakout fool....Go figure??? I believe small and light is always faster, But what do I know..LOL

Terry, Let's say that a little birdy told me. Here is a link to the race.

Thanks for the link.

A birdy huh? I spoke with Richard Verrano and he hasn't seen one yet. I thought all YS engine had to come through him. I wonder how someone got a hold of one to test against the 1.10S.

Is there a place where the rules for your race are posted? I know there are a few models that are not allowed, such as the one in my Avatar. I'd like to see if I have anything worth racing up there.

Thanks, Terry

Seems I'm the CD for our Club 40 race on Sept 26 so I'll have to shoot for your next warbird race.

Looking forward to a review of your race.

Just broke in mine a couple of days ago, installed it on a tf p51 mustang replacing my old os120FS, i have a 15x8 on it and the thing amazed me, the plane is heavy and was really slow with the os, i had a hard time landing it with the new ys115S and could only land it while the throttle trim was very low on a very long approach. SIMPLY AMAZING, it made me fall in love again with my p51. Recomend it to anyone.
