I think you are right on the fan tail!!! Heli Artist doesn't show it on their site anymore. Is a blurb about it on there but it's dated 2009! Was a good thought anyway! (Had to edit it, spelling was crap!)

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
Yes, finally that's what I've been trying to get feedback on! Going with a multi-blade head do you have to use a system like the beastx? I get that the head has to be in phase, but is it possible to fly a 450 sized heli without a 3 axis gyro and not have a nerve racking hand full??

Yes it is possible to fly a multi bladedc head without a 3 axis gyro like the beast x. A friend of mine has a 450 size ec 145 with a four bladed head that he flys without any stabalizing system. He phased it mechanicly and runs it nose heavy thats about the only differance he made from the normal setup. Keep in mind my friend has been flying RC Heli's since the 1st RC Helis, he can fly anything. Flying it with the stabilizer (3 axis gyro) will be much more enjoyable.

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
Hey guys, how's those multi-blade projects coming along? Mine is stalled at the moment. I don't think my little 250GT is going to fly worth a crap. Parts just look too heavy for it. So I'm going to goto 450 like you guys. I just ordered a 4-blade head from Hobby King, http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=12611
I didn't order the 450 mechanics yet but I saw RC Aerodyne had free shipping on this fuse so I had to buy it! http://www.scaleflying.com/AH-64-Apache-450_p_1821.html
I already have most of the parts I need. I just need to get a 450 kit and a ESC that can handle 4S packs.
What ESC are you guys using? I'm thinking about the Eletrifly silver 25amp or the Super Brain 60amp. I have a Super Brain 40amp but it can only handle 3S packs.

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
You know, all the hype behind the multi axis gyro in my oppinion is pretty much just for the 2 blade non flybared setups. I put a 5 blade head from copterx on my cheap EXI450 and it flys and hovers with more stability than it did with the two bladed flybar head. I will tell you guys this the setup of the heli in general was a combonation of reading all the forums. I'm using a 11t gear with a 3500kv motor (all xheli stuff, exceed, EXI, etc) and the blades are also copterx. I've got less than $250 in the whole heli and that includes a Heliartist 500D fuse. -Jesse

Ya, with the right copterX blades the copterX multi blades head do not need any 3 axis gyro. For my copterX black Angel after changing from a normal flybar head to a multi blades head. The only thing I do is turn down the D/R slight.... I can't remember exactly but around 5-10%.....

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
450 size AH-64 fuselage came in yesterday. The 450 looks like a much better size to work on rather than the 250.
I ordered a 4-blade tail yesterday from XM Hobbies. http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet...hdx-3dx/Detail
I also ordered two sets of K&B tail blades. http://www.cnchelicopter.com/servlet...ck-tail/Detail

Ya know, some things you can figure out your self but other things, like a micro sized tail assembly with 48 parts and having four sets of screws with different types and lengths but all with the same tread pattern you tend to want to look at the directions!
Hopefully I can find some help online.

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
Got the right tail parts in.
I'm thinking about using this CopterX Black Angle as my mechs. Anyone has experience with these? Is it worth $100 or should I get the Hobby King 450GT for $55?
If I get the CopterX, I'll get the 5-blade head one. I already ordered the 4 blade head from Hobby King. Might use the 5 head on a later project.

If you had flown any other 450 heli. The first thing you will notice is the copterX Black Angel is very responsive. As the frame design is narrow and stiff. And the head and tail assembly have very little if any slop. I think it is one of the nicest 450 heli on the market now.

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
I used the EXI 450 chasis for my MD500. The head is a 5 blade copterX with the copterX plastic scale blades. The total cost of the EXI build was around $100 less the battery and RX (already had them). The copterX 5 bladed head was $27 and the 5 plastic blades were only $7. So I've got about $150 in the heli before the fuselage and it flies great.

What's the difference between the EXI 450 Carbon at $40 and the EXI Pro belt at $70?

4-blade head came in today.
WOW! This thing looks great. The machining is really nice. I was going to paint this but it's anodized neutral gray so I'll just leave it natural.

Well I don't see the EXI on the list of acceptable mechanics. The frame has to have the same geometry as the Trex 450 to accept the drop down belt unite.
CopterX CX450 AE V2/ SE V2/ ME/ Black Angel
•Exceed RC BlueRay 450/ Genesis 450
•ALIGN T-REX450X/XL/SE/SE V2
•Titan E325
•Belt-CP
•DragonusII 450

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
The EXI is a trex 450se clone. I used the trex 450 se instruction manual to build my EXI and if you didn't know it you almost can't tell the difference. I wouldn't stear you wrong, I have several flights on this heli without any problems. You would save yourself alot of $$ by going with the EXI. I don't know if you've seen this thread, but here's were I got the idea:http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_99..._1/key_/tm.htm
The thread is very informative and the parts are all at xheli here in the US.

Looks like the difference is the Trex uses a two part belt system where the EXI uses a one piece plate system.
The AH-64 has a raised 45 degree tail so the tail boom has to be lowered in the frame. This unite replaces the Trex's bottom piece in the frame and allows the boom and belt to be dropped down an inch.
