Darth,

Can the Apache work with the Belt CP? Any problems adapting for the elevated tail?

Thanks,

Tumbler

Im not sure of all the modding that will needed to be done for the 450 size helicopters as far as the elevated tail. I have seen some convert the BBI model to RC but I think they used a flex cable to drive the tail. Im working on an apache now using 450 electronics but using the King@ airframe. The tailboom is completely removed and Im going to be using a tail motor on the tail. So, Im thinking the belt Cp will work the same way if using the motorized tailrotor

Darth,

I just ordered your Bell 222 from Heli Direct! So are you saying If I used the Belt CP in the Apache, I would have to run tail rotor driven by a sperate motor? I have the King 2, but it is belt driven. Can you clarify and give me examples of airframes that would be best for the Apache and others with elevated tails. I prefer using the cheaper helis like the Belt CP and King 2 uf I am goign to put them in the scale bodies.

Not necessarily but I think a seperate tail motor would be the best less complicated way. Im working on an apache now and Im using the tailmotor instead of a belted elevated tail.

Heres some models I have done using the seperate tail motors. These are all with the King2 Chassis. You may ask why I think it will work with the belt Cp or ay other 450 size heli...First of all the King2 rotor head is almost 100% identical to the Belt Cp head. Ive flown several t-rex size bodies using the king2 Chassis. My UH-1B Huey actually is being flown with a 450 size class motor using an 18 amp esc. The ESC after a flight is pretty warm to hot. I think bumping up to a 30 amp ESC will solve that problem. Also, I dont see why running a bigger battery wouldnt be also a benefit. Im going to use a pair of Belt Cp blades on my apache and since I have basically flown the Huey with an almost complete 450 setup I dont see why a Belt Cp or T-rex wouldnt work. What I like about the King2 is that it is versatile and the frame work is light weight. when I got my first King2 I immediatley thought, "Hey this can be stretched to the size of the Belt or T-rex Just by replaceing the boom and belt to a longer length and also a set of longer blades. I just cant see why it wouldnt work.

Darth~ Do you plan on ever producing an ARF version of any bodies for a Blade CP? I have a hughes of yours sitting on the bench (1 year so far), that is the clear molds. I have been building for many years and dont want to tackle that project! You know, we are all spoiled now with the ARF's and time is soo much more valuable now. In a few months there will be 3 or 4 scale bodies from Horizon that can be installed in about an hour. Made for the Blade CP.

I'm considering a Hughes 500 for my T-rex. Can anyone tell me what to do with the boom supports?

Thanks,

Ryan

Right now I am doing this full time. I have ambitions of offering RTM bodies but as you have said yourself, time is so valuable. There is days that Im working easily 16 hours. Im wearing myself out it seems sometimes. If things ever slow down, I do plan on doing some prebuilts. Right now This what Im doing is a one man show. In my circle of people I know, Im the only one in the heli scene and to be able to make these one would have to be familiar with building models and painting. Pretty much all my bodies are easy to build/assemble. Painting is pretty easy also and mounting isnt hard either. Of course the more I have to do the higher the cost. I'll be looking into trying to schedule some time in for building finished products in the future.

Are all the Trex 450 fuselages compatable with the mini titan? I don't know the dimensions of the two are they the same or is there going to need to be modification required. I am about to buy either the mini titan or the Trex 450, havn't made up my mind yet, but I would like a scale fuselage for it, which do you think is a better option?
