Old Heim/Graupner AirWolf .61

1 Attachment(s)
Good lord, what have I got. This was given to me by a friend who is cleaning his storage and leaving town. All I know is a it's a Heim Uni-Profi with a fiberglass Airwolf body. The fuse is 60" long. It is missing the clutch bell, clutch and cooling fan. It has a Like new OS SF .61, and a tuned pipe. Also has mechanical retracts.
Can anyone date it, and maybe help with a source for the missing parts?

Not sure if those mechanics are still available, however the Graupner Heim Uni Expert parts may fit but I'm not totally sure.

TLH,

I have a sneaky suspision that what you have is Heim mechanics (if you're sure) from the old graupner Bell 222, with the vario airwolf fuselage kit either .50 or .60 size

Not sure about the Graupner/Hiem mechs but if you look around you can still find a set of Vario's 3+4 mechs which are the same as what you have. You could more then likely use what you've got but will need to replace the bearings and a number of the rusted bolts. Updating the swashplate couldn't hurt either. The fuse looks like the older Vario Medium Airwolf that had the mechs that bolted in from the top.

I have this fuse and I put the newer wood kit in it so I could use Vario Sky Fox mechs.

For the parts you need you can contact Joe Howard at [email protected] the US Vario dealer or Sandy if you want to stick with Hiem parts at www.v-eastonline.com. I'm not sure about Graupner/Hiem but Vario will have most everything you need to get that ship in flying order.

Good luck.

Hi,

You have the origional Heim bell 222. Circa early 1980's. They were expensive at the time.... but probably the best flying models of their time.

I have the same model. I need to resurect mine as well. Spares are hard to come by.... let me know if you find a place who has parts. I have a few parts.... let me know what you need and i will let you know if i can spare some of my spares.....

Here is a cool link I just found today.... Actually... this is weird... for some strange reason I became interested in flying mine again ...just this morning.. so i began looking around....

Here are some pics of mine.... I used to conduct missions in a park near my house... these are from 1998. I have had the model since 1983... I built it when I was 13.

Wow, I forgot all about this thread. I have not done anything with mine. It's hanging from the ceiling in my shop. I have considered converting it to electric, since I have gotten completely out of gas & glow powered models.

Info or help on this old bird or how to ID the one i have

Hello I was just given an old Airwolf / Bell 222 fuse on the drawings included it says to use Heim or IM retracts . I have not had a chance to measure anything yet just got it home and put it away where it will not receive any further damage
has some slight fiberglass damage from years of storage and being treated roughly which will require some repair .
what mechanics would be best to use for one of these I'm thinking of going electric and possibly FBL when I get around to actually getting it setup and built .
how do I go about ID this bird to know for sure what manufacture made it first ??
