Chinook scale build

Chinook progress so far. The main frame assembly is made from epoxy glass sheet and alloy, the scale fuse is yet to begin, so at the moment just the mechanics are happening.

Here are some pics of the main rotor gearboxes, engine and primary reduction.

RE: Chinook scale build
can't wait till it is all up and flying :D
|
RE: Chinook scale build
I can't wait either. There will be more pics soon, I have finnished the mainrotor gearbox mounts and just have to make the bearing supports for the masts so I can mount the boxes. Still waiting on the cv joints 6-8weeks[:@]

Some pics of the progress. The rear tower mechanics are starting to happen. I have also made the rotor hubs, I decided not to offset the flapping hinge so both heads will be the same |
RE: Chinook scale build
Sweet
That a Raptor swash? |
RE: Chinook scale build
Sure is a raptor swash, I already had 2 and they are easy to modify for the 3 blade heads.

RE: Chinook scale build
sure looks like it's coming along

The front tower mechanics are almost finnished and the CV joints showed up |
RE: Chinook scale build
Such a great project, I can't wait to see that on youtube
hey.. are you using one engine and shaft drive to the both rotors? Cause I want to know how much weight you can carry on something like that I mean, that project looks heavy for sure. |
RE: Chinook scale build
Its's all up weight will be 12kg, It is using an Align 90 3.4hp, the rotors are 5ft and are geared to run at 1250rpm. The tests on lift vs hp show that it will be able to lift about 20kg out of ground effect. So there should be a reasonable amount of reserve power for a scale model.

RE: Chinook scale build
What will you use for the fuselage??
I built the Hirobo CH-46 and have fun flying it, although it requires ALL of my attention to do so! Also, what about the mixing? All mechanical or will the radio play a part? |

This is the plug for the 1/12th fuse so far. I have partly filled some sections and am currently icing the rear tower to sand smooth. As for the mixing, it is part mechanical, part electroninc and i'm using program mixes in the radio for differential pitch and elevator mix. I also have a differential pitch trim. |
RE: Chinook scale build
Now it's starting to look like a chinook

RE: Chinook scale build
very cool!
there are sure a lot of talented folks around. I think you will find others interested in getting their hands on a copy of that fuse. |
