Default Is there a formula for adding flaps and ailerons to a wing ?

Hello, i'm going to build an old Sig Cadet Senior and want to make just a slow easy Sunday flyer out of it. I'm going to add a little to the wing, maybe 20%, add a polyhedral and would like to add ailerons and flaps also. Is there a percentage or some kind of formula for flaps and ailerons ? I know with flaps it will land very slow so the ailerons will need to be a little larger to compensate. I know this build sounds a little over the top for a trainer, that's the point. I'm hoping when my wife see how slow, stable, and easy to fly it is, she might just give it a try (yes, there is a method to this madness) Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

6% of the wing area in each aileron.
10% of the wing area in each flap.
Increase the empennage area 20%

Thanks Dan, I didn't think of increasing the tail area

Thanks for the thanks. You will have to calculate the new location of the CG. Since that is a constant chord wing, put it at 30% of the new chord behind the leading edge. Also increase the distance between the new CG and the tail section a few percent. Dan.

Hi

Few days ago I took my Kadet Senior wing out of storage and I hope I can finish this plane for next summer. In attached picture you can check my way of adding flaps and ailerons. Split between aileron and flap is at the outer servo location. Moving parts are build next directly into wing. Flaps are quite large I think.

Years ago one of the club members added ailerons to his Kadet Senior but he could not get it to fly for him. When he would give it left aileron it would bank right. The wing was very easy to twist because of his installation of huge barn door ailerons so in flight aileron input would twist the wing. Just keep this in mind when you are doing the modifications.

The wing of Kadet is really flexible when build as designed. I added more balsa sheets between bottom and top spars. Main spar has sheets on both sides to create box structure. Aft spar and flap/aileron hinge lines create another rigid structure. At the moment even without top sheeting the wing is difficult to twist.
