Got in two more flights this morning. That's all of the flying for this week due to the weather and holidays.

The plane does great in the wind including cross winds. I'm happy with it. I really gave it a good ringing out, inverted, slow, fast, with flaps, lots of touch and goes, stalls. It will depart controlled flight on high rates with full up elevator and snap. As long as moderate controls are used, it's stable as a rock.

I'll try some spins on the next flight.

My 'red' coroplast was more like 'pink' and that has been bothering me. There are no famous pink tail planes.

The little square patch of coroplast is the original color.

Back to work.

I hated to take off the tail wheel, wire bracing, and control horns and put them all back on again, but it was worth it.

I can't wait for the 301st squadron decals to show up. I hope they make it before next year.

I really like this color of red. Hope it sticks okay to the coroplast.

The black spray paint held up pretty well on the LA Biplane.

Flight number 8, had trouble keeping the plane straight, the tail wheel kept swiveling, added a wheel collar to keep it from rotating on the shaft.

While doing that, decided to add a block to prevent the rudder from crushing the coroplast due to the tension on the pull-pull wires.

Got the name on the plane.

Only a few more details to add in the next couple of weeks.

Have 12 each 10 minute flights now. I've been monitoring the battery usage after every flight. I'm averaging close to 100 mA draw for each 10 minute flight.

Got my decals from Redbubble a couple of weeks earlier than expected.

The 301st Tuskegee Airman squadron decal looks pretty good.

I really like Redbubble vinyl decals. I get most of my big ones from M.C. Graphic Decals. Both companies have good prices and quick delivery.

I put the New Dog on the scale today, all those details and decals add up, it came out to exactly 20 lbs.

Next year when the weather warms up and the pain of building a plane wears off again I may build a new wing using the New Dog II design. It may shave off a couple of pounds.

David did a great job of filming one of my flights.

Here is the link to his site:

Got 21 fights on the bird now. Everything is holding together okay. The weather is getting cold, makes flying a lot less fun.

Moved to Mississippi. Can't wait to get all the stuff unpacked and start flying again.
