Just started a Das Liddle Stik. Using the original Phil Kraft plans that I bought from RCM. This is my first scratch build. About my 8th build total. The other 7 were kits though. Still haven't assembled or flown an ARF.

Default RE: RCM plan builders?

Back in the later 1990's I began building an electric powered A/C from one of their plans. That was when I found out that the plans, the article, and the cover picture did not have to match one another. The builder had made two prototypes, taking pictures along the way etc, and none matched the other. He completely altered mounting at each phase. The article did not describe how to construct any of the tail feathers, but jumped into a concluding paragraph on how cool it would look in the air and flying it. The construction plans did not match any of the photographs as far as wood placement was concerned. In one picture the cowl was planked, and on the magazine cover it was not. Landing gear on plans did not match any of the photographs within the article, nor cover. In the empanage area, there were no pictures to show how to mount the rudder, except distant ones and those did not match the plans. Even the reduced size plan for the magazine issue omitted what went on near the rear.

In complaint to them, was a simple reply that it was (although simple looking) designed for advanced builders and they tend to use the plans only as a guide. E:mail was new then, but I found a few others who were trying to build it too. We all had the same difficulties. I never completed mine, and after about 9 months none of the others did either. I assume that they sell plans which work and some that don't.

Humm let's see
* Hooker ( GREAT flying plane)
* Spook 96" old timer (Pics attached. Electric power using a Dewalt Drill motor and 3:1 belt drive)
* Whimpy ( new old timer, would snap, spin, roll, etc)
* Scooter ( Push-Pull twin that looked like a shoe and flew like one. Did the flattest flat spin of any plane I ever had though)
* Hornet (1/2A sport ship...flew great right up to the spinner-spinner mid-air I had )

And a few others I can't seem to remember right now.

I only had a problem with one of them... It was the Spook. The instructiosn are very specific regarding the dihedral braces on the gull wing. If folowed to the T, the wing ends up as an inverted Gull. Nothing like a boat load of anhedrial on an Old Timer Spoke with Jim P. @ toledo about this. He offered a free plan for the error. Really Nice guy to chat w/,

This is Miss Kitkat from RCM plans. A tough build since its an old style design. I used 2 1/4" steel rods to align the fuse formers. The cowl is made from scratch out of fiberglass using the lost foam method. My first warbird, many many years ago. That poor mustang went thru hell.

Well I would like to build from RCM plans but they don't seem inclined to send them to me. I ordered plans on the 5th and still don't have them. I called on the 16th and was told they had been shipped but I still don't have them. I emailed the editor (Patrica Crews) and got a nice reply last week she said she would look into it but I still don't have the plans or any information on when or if I will ever get them.
Ordered the wood and hardware and engine all of which are setting on my bench but I still don't have the plans.

Can anyone tell me how long it takes the pony express to get from california to missouri???????????????

Maybe they sent them Parcel Post? That's as slow as slow can be.....

I've built two:

Semperfi by Randy Randolph

Skeeto SA-8 by Paul Denson, I think....one original size and one enlarged to 80" span.

Both wonderful flyers.

Think I'm going to build another Semperfi....great plane to toss in the back seat in one piece and go flying.

Got the templates made to cut foam wings for the AgWagon. In a year or so I will be building the SR-71.

I am in the process of building the Advanced Trainer MKII. It is a nice plane. The plans are great and all is progressing well. I modified it some. I made it a taildragger and used a vib reducing mount. Added 2 1/4 square stringers to get a better glue joint in the aft fuse. Nothing really differeent, I like it a lot. I would not hesitate to do any RCM plan.

Mark Shuman

PS it took me almost 3 weeks to central PA.

rcairplanenut - What's the name of that sleek looking blue plane? How does it fly?

Here's mine, it's called the Avanti:

I liked that one too! After a clubmate came over last night I may be building an F-86 from some old RCM plans.

The Blue Delta is called the Clymax Delta, its RCM plan 1142 by Clay Ramskill in the 4/1993 issue of RCM.

Click on this link and type 1142 into the box on the screen, it will take you to the page with info on this plane.

http://www.rcmmagazine.com/e/env/000...ore-plans.html

I modified the design to have an estes rocket motor in the back, I have only tried an A in it though, it looks so cool.

I also glued the fuse to the wing rather then making it removable, the gear is accessed from 2 hatches that are on the top.

It’s a great every day plane, very easy to build. It has to be one of the best planes I have ever flown, and I have flown a ton of RC aircraft.

A lot of people think it is an enforcer or force one, but this plane is a lot easier to complete then the Laddie M planes.

I have not seen any other Clymax Deltas out there, its to bad because it’s such a great plane.

Yes Injfarms, they are that slow, I think they ship by way of old goat. I have there Krier Kraft by Gordon Whitehead on the bench at this moment, A lot left to be desired in the way of information. I have built A number of there other planes and had good luck with them. So far the best plans built plane I have built is the 68 inch Boeing F4B-2 by John Tanzer but the plans were given to me and I don't know from where they came??

Let's see what have I built from RCM:

Ju-52
B-24
1/2A Stick
Speedy Bee
96" Spook (I'm covering that now [:'(]).

I have a stack of plans waiting to build. As soon as I finish with the Spook I plan on starting on the SR-71 [8D]. I have had good luck with RCM plans and like them a lot. They have a pretty good selection and are relatively inexpensive.

Bolar! Keep in touch when you go to start the SR-71. I have the same plan and may go at it at the same time.

I have built a HOTS this winter from RCM plans. It was my first plans build. It worked great, I'm very pleased with the results. I,m building a 2nd Hots now as a backup since I'm trying some new 3d with this one. Also, I have an A10 Wart Hog and GEE BEE Z plans to build this summer. I plan on buying the SR71 and a few others I have been looking at.

The latest addition to my RCM plans built and flying inventory, the Arrow plan 1335 July 04’

It was built and flown while the July issue of RCM was still on the shelves in super markets and bookstores.

I built this cessna agwagon from some enlarged rcm plans. It has a 72" wingspan, full cockpit and working dusting system. I just ordered the piper seneca II plans. I can't wait to get them because this will be my first twin.
