I have been wondering this as well. Hopefully someone can help out here... If you get no response here, you might try the giant scale and IMAC forums.

I don't believe there is any such thing as a Cap 232. There are planes called that but I'm pretty sure it's just an Extra wing on a Cap 231. If you look at the numbers on the side of Matt's plane it desidnates it as a Cap 231. In reality, it's all marketing hype as he put a Lycoming 580 motor on it a year or so ago. He has since upgraded even more to I believe 620 ponies. For more information, go to www.flyinggiants.com and listen to the Biffcast with Matt Chapman. He gives plenty of information there and is an active member of the Giants.

matt flies a cap 231ex the story behind the 231 and the 232 is the 231 has an extra wing on it and when extra found out what was going on and that the 231 was beeting his extra in competions he stopped selling mudry the wing thats when the 232 came out. It has a wing designed and built by mudry. The cap 580 is named after the engine that he is running thats all that i know of. the old hanger 9 matt chapman is accually a cap 231ex but for some reason was marketed as a 232. Also Last i knew there were only 6 cap 231ex's in the world and matts is the only one in the U.S.

Since it would appear that the 580 is simply a Cap 231/232 with a bigger engine, you can use this 3-view
