TIGITRIGHT,
Do you have any pics of your LJ-7?
Have you maidened it yet?
I'm thinking about building this after we get our new house.
What are you using for an engine?

Yes I have mine built.Mine is slightly larger than plans.about a quarter inch per foot larger. The plans call for a 84 inch wing and mine has an 86 inch, plans have 67 inch fuse and mine has a 69 1/2.Im still working on finishing the cowl paint job and setting up the electronics, servo's etc.I built my wing and rear stab from balsa & spruce build-up instead of using foam,Its actually lighter this way.The engine is a poulan 46cc that I made a few mods on plus Roy Sholl electronic ignition.Roy also made me a custom rotor that uses the Zenoah two bolt hubs.He will be adding this to his web site soon.I will be posting pic's soon, already have some if you look at my page.Heres a few pics..

Will probably be late October or early November before I take it to the runway. Not really rushing this build.Currently having fun with a small 40 size GP Extra 300S. with a MDS .48.Great little plane, super light and easy to do just about anything I could want it to.
I will have some updated pic's soon.I can't believe nobody else has built this LJ-7.I cant wait to fly mine. It's going to be light as well,so far the complete plane without radio or servo's is 11 lbs.I plan on drilling some holes in the landing gear to lighten them up as well.I made mine from 1/4"-2" T-6.
It's kinda heavy.Iv also removed all the chock related parts and pluged the holes from the fly-shaft.The chock is not need at all.

Flys like a WildHare Yak.Great plane, planning on putting some lightning holes in the sides of the fuse on the tail.Had to run a heavy APC prop to balance it out.Heres a few more pics.

TIGITRIGHT - your plane is BEAUTIFUL! I've been busy gathering the components for mine! Since this ship will be my induction into building a giant size aircraft, I have a couple of questions for you fellas: 1) I'm planning on putting a 50cc twin engine in her that measures 9.25" spark cap to cap and I don't know the cowl dimensions. Do you think it'll fit and if not what modifications will I have to make? 2) I wanted to add hoener type wing-tips. Does anybody know of some good designs or ready-made availability? 3) I also plan on fiberglassing the whole ship and to date have used krylon paints but would like to try Klass Cote. Can anybody offer me some tips? 4) Any other construction tips would be most welcome!!!!

Hi TigitRight!
What a beautiful job you did on your bird! I've had my eyes on building this for some time and I bought the foam wing / stab cores, cowl...etc. Am planning on putting a Evolution 50GX in it which should be about the same power as your Poulan I would guess.
Am really curious how you finished yours? Did you use fiberglass cloth if so what weight? (I'm trying to learn how to glass my planes) And then, if you did glass it what kind of paint did you use if your don't mind me asking?
I didn't get the canopy and was figuring I would just get an EXTRA or EDGE canopy for mine.
Am looking forward to hearing & learning from you.
Tom
