Default Shorts skyvan

I've entertained the idea of building a Shorts Skyvan off
and on for some time but have not been able to find some
decent plans. I'd like to build one around 100 to 125 inches.

Any suggestions that would get me pointed in the rite
direction would be appreciated.

Regards,
Roby

I don't know how much searching you have done already, but was an inquiery here a good 1-2 months ago about the Skyvan and the requestor found a set of plans advertised in some UK based magazine.

Been there. The UK mag is called RCM&E . What I found there was
mainly small electric stuff but at least it's a start.

Anybody doing this plane?
I remember that in one of the old British Magazine, namely Radio Modeller (now defunct), there was a review of a 93" Skyvan from a kit (could it have been a Cambria kit?) and apparently it had a nice flight.
Surely not the most beautiful plane but it is one that I like too....as someone said.... "beauty is in the eye of the beholder!" At one time I had made some tracing on Coreldraw of a set of drawings of the Skyvan.

Any more info?

I have been in touch with a fellow RCU member. He says that
he has a set of plans , (German) for a 53 inch version. He
indicated that he'd send them to me. If and when I get them
I'll double the size.

I'll keep you posted .

Back somewhere around 1968 I chartered one to haul drill stem from Sweden to the U.K.
On our second or third trip we Called Gatwick ground control for taxi instructions only to have the controller ask for a repeat on aircraft type. We repeated type and call letters and this time the response was to ask for our location on the airport. After giving that information there was a 15 second pause while he apparently looked at us with field glasses. His first response back was "Built it yourselves did you"?
It may have suffered in the esthetic department but it was an excellent cargo plane for hauling unusual loads.

I have the Aviation News 1/72 scale drawings which show all the variants of the Skyvan. Here is a link to them.

The Skyvan is something I want to build along with the GAF Nomad.

Roby, if you go to E-Bay and enter:  SHORT SC. 7 "SKYVAN" ws 120" PLANS .  The plans cost $3.00 and you will receive a download for the seller.  You download the plans on a CD and take the CD to a graphics store to be printed out.  Hope this helps.

Boomerang1 may have the original 49" w.s. plans I may have.  Because the 120" plans were originally 49" w.s. until it was increased to 120".  The plans actually say 49" ws.  Good Luck in your search!

That is one ugly paint job! Beauty must be in the eyes of the beholder.... somewhere!
