Would anyone scratch build a super stick 40??

Just can't find these around anymore, I had three in the last couple of decades and liked them. Is this a worthwhile project for scratch building? Any opinions?

RE: Would anyone scratch build a super stick 40??

Why not buy the plans for the original Phil Kraft's Das Ugly Stik? RCM should have the plans for the Jim Jensen kitted version that appeared in their magazine. I wouldn't be surprised if the AMA plans services has the plans as well. Another RCU member gave me the 2 part RCM building article so PM me your email address if you want me to email a copy. It will come in two zip files 19.2 AND 18.7 MB in size. This version has a 60" wingspan and a 46" fuselage and shows the engine to be .40 to .61. That is in 1970s engine technology so a modern .40 would pull it fine.

That's a good idea. Thanks for the offer, I'd like to see that article. Send it to [email protected] and I'll read it and see if it looks like something I can do. Thanks.

That's a good idea, I have a .46 but thought maybe that wouldn't pull a plane that big. Thanks for the offer, I'd like to see that article. Send it to [email protected] and I'll read it and see if it looks like something I can do. Thanks.
The article is on it's way, enjoy! I expect to see a building thread on RCU! :D

Thanks, that's what I needed to send me in the right direction, especially the plan views. I just built a smaller stick-no plans, just look and cut. Pictures are attached. This is a 500 square inch 50 inch version, power on front is an OS 25 FX. Plane has not been flown yet. Need this darn snow to melt.

Glad to help. Your plane looks good. You know its not to later to order snow skis from Du-Bro! ;)
